Appian is seeking a Staff Accountant to be a key member of our corporate accounting team. This role is integral to the smooth operation of our financial processes, encompassing a wide range of responsibilities in accounts payable and international general ledger support for a 2,000 employee, multinational organization. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented, proactive problem-solver with a strong understanding of accounting principles and a commitment to accuracy. This role will be at Appian HQ which is located in McLean, VA. The expectation is to be in the office 5 days per week. Primary Responsibilities:
Oversee international AP invoice entries to ensure timely processing and proper coding and approvals for Appian's 15 international subsidiaries.
Manage vendor communications and inquiries and resolve payment or invoice discrepancies.
Prepare and process weekly international accounts payable payment runs.
Support the review and processing of employee expense reports in compliance with company policies.
Liaise with employees to resolve expense-related queries and technical issues of the Concur expense reporting platform.
Accurately enter and initiate wire payments through various domestic and international banking portals.
Perform timely and accurate reconciliation of international corporate credit card statements, working with cardholders to collect receipts, resolve unrecorded transactions, and ensure proper expense categorization in line with cardholder expectations and policies.
Provide accounting support for the monthly, quarterly and annual closes for Appian's foreign subsidiaries, including preparing journal entries and pulling support for statutory audit requests.
Interact and coordinate with personnel in various corporate departments, including HR, Payroll, Legal, and marketing teams in order to accurately resolve and record transactions at the entity level.
Execute controls and close processes to ensure compliance with our key financial controls.
Complete special projects and analyses as requested, including process improvement initiatives and system implementations to enhance efficiency and accuracy within accounting operations.
Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. Internship experience required.
1+ years finance and accounting preferred
Experience with Concur, Concur Audit, AppZen is preferred
