Job Summary
This position serves the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, under direction of the Supportive Oncology Services Department. The Outpatient Oncology Licensed Clinical Social Worker provides assessments, counseling, education, and advocacy services to adult and/or geriatric oncology patients, their families and caregivers. In addition, the oncology social worker provides education and support services to medical staff and the medical community regarding the psychosocial impact of cancer. The LCSW shall adhere to and promote the ethics and values of the social work profession, using the NASW Code of Ethics as a guide to ethical decision making. The LCSW will advocate for the patient's right to self-determination, confidentiality, access to supportive services and resources, and appropriate inclusion in decision making that affects their health and well-being. The LCSW will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team by identifying and offering services that address the biopsychosocial needs of the patient.

- California Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- Possession of an active and unrestricted Clinical Social Worker License issued by the California Behavioral Sciences Examiners
- Master's Degree from an accredited School of Social Work
- Minimum 2 years post graduate full-time equivalent work as a social worker in a medical facility, community health, mental health, correctional, and/or family care capacity
- Must have a minimum of two (2) years post-graduate social work clinical experience in a social service or healthcare setting (i.e. case management or social worker)
- Experience in obtaining and documenting a comprehensive psychosocial assessment.
- Knowledge of child abuse, elder abuse, and domestic violence reporting requirements, as well as other significant legislation and laws regulating social work practice, e.g., Tarasoff, patient confidentiality, and ability to make appropriate interventions based on law and policy.
- Basic understanding of community resources.
- Demonstrated awareness of, and sensitivity to, dealings with cultural and socioeconomic diversity.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: verbal, written and listening.
- Ability to convey instructions, directions and information appropriately and accurately.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to utilize the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders Text Revisited (DSM-5 TR).
- Ability to work diplomatically and respectfully with a wide variety of people.
- Ability to work as a member in diverse multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to successfully manage conflict and maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications
- Oncology Social Work Certification (OSW-C) and/or Advanced Palliative Hospice Social Worker-Certified (APHSW-C)
- Social Work experience in an outpatient oncology setting.
- Previous work that included providing psychosocial assessments and care to patients with hematology-oncology diagnoses, and related treatments.
- Social work experience that included end-of-life care, including palliative care and advance care planning.
- Social work experience in a medical or mental health care setting.
- Bi-lingual Spanish speaking
- Knowledge and understanding of individual, child, and family development, human behavior and communication, the influence of culture and values in social work practice, psychotherapy, case management, and the relationship between social work practice and medicine.
- Demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of chronic disease and psychosocial impact of disease.
- Knowledge and skills in the areas of individual, group, and family therapy.
- Knowledge and understanding of individual, child, and family development, human behavior and communication, the influence of culture and values in social work practice, psychotherapy, case management, and the relationship between social work practice and medicine.

Department Overview The outpatient oncology Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) is a team member of Supportive Oncology Services (SOS), providing supportive care at the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center. This mission of SOS is to serve people whose lives are affected by cancer, through comprehensive assessment and expert management of the myriad of challenges they face. Department Specific Job Scope The Oncology Licensed Clinical Social Worker will provide consultative biopsychosocial assessments, time-limited counseling, and education regarding the psychosocial impact of disease to patients and caregivers treated at the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center. If serving a pediatric population, LCSW will need to meet eligibility for CCS paneling. Adult oncology patient licensed clinical social worker to provide psychosocial assessments and counseling sessions to adult patients and their families being treated at the cancer center. This position will be primarily at the Sacramento health campus, with some coverage as needed at the C Street Clinic (midtown Sacramento), Rocklin, and Folsom clinic sites. POSITION INFORMATION
