POSITION PROFILE (Job Summary)

Reporting to the President of TOTE Maritime Alaska (TMAK) and as a member of the Sr. Leadership team, this position is responsible for executing on our overall strategy and goals for our Alaska Operation. Accountable for delivering optimal results while meeting our Safety, Customer Experience, Operational Excellence and Employee Experience objectives. The VP & Alaska General Manager will plan, direct, and oversee Alaska's short and long-term plans, directives, and initiatives while ensuring a positive overall experience for our customers and employees.

Essential Job Responsibilities AND Results



  • Direct and oversee Alaska Operation, including Terminal operations, Sales team, and Customer Service team.
  • Serves as the senior company representative in Alaska. Responsible for external relationships with senior state and federal officials as well as business leaders in the community for all key initiatives impacting our business.
  • Oversee sales efforts essential to sales force productivity. Includes planning, reporting, management, and sales force optimization.
  • Oversee Continuous Improvement efforts while effectively collaborating with key partners
  • Interface regularly with customers and stakeholders; maintain a positive, ongoing relationship with customers as well as political and community organizations exemplifying high ethical standards.
  • Lead, support and develop high-performing teams through assessing the team's capabilities, proactively resolving gaps, actively coaching leaders, and delegating duties to empower and enhance ownership of all employees.
  • Responsible for developing and achieving Operations strategies, financial operating plans and budgets, department goals and KPI's through collaboration and teamwork.
  • Responsible for ensuring best practices, programs to reduce or eliminate organizational risk, safety and accident prevention as well as physical security. This includes business continuity.


Qualifications (Education, Experience and Certifications)



  • Minimum of ten years of general management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree required (in business administration or related field).
  • MBA is preferred.
  • At least five years senior level leader experience.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions for all key stakeholders.
  • Able to multitask, stay organized, resourceful and plan around obstacles.
  • Computer literate, with the ability to utilize standard software applications and be proficient in Windows and MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
