JOB SUMMARY UT Southwestern is looking to add a Lead Financial Analyst to the Budget and Resource Planning team. This position will work under a hybrid model with time working on campus and remotely. We are looking for an individual with exceptional communication, critical thinking, presentation and organizational skills to provide crucial support to our leadership team. In this key role, you will be responsible for planning, designing, developing and implementing a variety of training courses on behalf of the Budget Office for the benefit of the entire UTSW financial community. Your contributions will be instrumental in fulfilling the department's action plan and enhancing the knowledge base of all employees involved in financial analysis and budgeting. Our ideal candidate possesses a strong base knowledge of UTSW's chart of accounts, financial policies and procedures and budget strategy, as well as financial proficiency in software tools such as Microsoft Excel, Office Connect, and the Adaptive planning tool. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Required
- Education
Bachelor's Degree In finance, accounting, or related field or
- Experience
6 years Experience in finance with demonstration in planning, forecasting, and financial analysis, plus analytical ability to understand complex financial activities of healthcare initiatives (or research initiatives depending on department needs).
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
- Plans, designs, develops and implements a variety of training courses on behalf of the Budget Office for the benefit of the entire UTSW financial community. Collaborates with other financial leaders to ensure accuracy, applicability and relevance of content and methodologies.
- Develops and maintains a training plan for new and continuing users of Adaptive and other financial software.
- Evaluates and collects feedback on the same and routinely adjusts and adapts as recommended.
- Contributes to or completes a variety of monthly financial management reports and reviews all reports for errors and inconsistencies; analyzes variations in forecasts and actual performance; determines reasons for variance; develops recommendations for improvement; completes written summaries of financial data.
- Prepares monthly financial reports including budget variance reports, schedules for annual financial reports, and reports to various government agencies, ensuring conformance of such reports with applicable procedures and regulations of University of Texas System and Federal and State agencies concerned.
- Identifies areas of poor performance, presents findings, and makes recommendations to upper management.
- Provides strategic consultation and guidance to management on financial or compliance issues, evaluates users' knowledge of business processes and creates recommendations for improvement.
- Performs financial analysis on various projects and is able to access and utilize financial data from various data sources and teach others to do the same.
- Develops and manages work plans to meet target dates and deliverables.
- Completes complex projects as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
