The RoleAs a Manager, Technical Writing in our Technology Group, you will lead the Documentation team. You will lead the transformation of the documentation team to enhance efficiency, enable scalability, and leverage modern technologies. You will leverage your skills and passion for technical writing to provide leadership that will help drive AspenTech's strategy and help customers to learn about and use our market-leading software.

Accurate and detailed documentation of procedures and workflows is a key component to familiarizing and training end users of AspenTech products.

You will be responsible for ensuring that AspenTech provides high-quality customer-facing documentation. Your Impact
  • Lead the Documentation team across multiple locations (including the United States, Mexico, China, and India).
  • Evaluate and implement modern tools and practices, including structured content systems, AI-assisted authoring, and multimedia integration.
  • Work closely with R&D, Product Management, and Quality Engineering to ensure timely, high-quality documentation aligned with Agile development processes.
  • Plan and manage documentation for major product releases and feature packs, ensuring alignment with cross-functional timelines and quality expectations.
  • Own documentation standards, templates, and review processes to support consistency and clarity across all deliverables.
  • Deliver content across multiple formats and channels, including embedded help, tutorials, online help, and in-app guidance.
  • Promote the use of modular, reusable content to improve maintainability and scalability across product lines.
  • Collaborate with UX and Support teams to develop user-friendly, context-aware content that improves usability and reduces support needs.
  • Create clear, accessible content tailored to user roles and skill levels, helping reduce onboarding time and improve adoption.
  • Use analytics, user feedback, and support data to continuously refine and improve documentation based on usage.
What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (including Technical Writing, English, Computer Science, or Communications).
  • Experience in creating technical documentation for complex software products, including multi-format and multi-channel delivery (e.g., in-app help, developer portals, and online guides).
  • Experience serving in a leadership or management role.
  • Experience transforming organization.
  • Familiarity with structured authoring approaches such as DITA or Docs-as-Code (Markdown), and experience using tools that support content reuse.
  • Proficiency with common documentation tools (e.g., authoring platforms, content management systems, and publishing tools such as MadCap Flare).
  • Experience working with version control systems like GitHub, Perforce, etc. as part of the documentation workflow.
  • Comfort using AI tools to support writing, editing, or reviewing documentation.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development environments.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in content accuracy and structure.
  • Ability to analyze user feedback and content usage data to guide documentation improvements.
