Senior Interiors Engineer Overview:

The Senior Interiors Engineer is responsible for developing and overseeing technical programs while managing daily technical issues related to aircraft interiors. This position focuses on the technical aspects of maintenance engineering, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, FAA regulations, reliability standards, and cost-efficiency principles.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a technical/subject matter expert for aircraft interiors-related items.
  • Possess general knowledge of other related disciplines and a full understanding of Company policies and procedures.
  • Provide technical solutions that are imaginative, practical, and consistent with organization objectives to a wide range of difficult problems.
  • Serve as role model and mentor for less experienced members of the engineering team.
  • Focal point for vendors on technical issues related to aircraft interiors, establishing procedures for effective coordination and resolution.
  • Author Engineering Reports to communicate technical data internally and externally with vendors.
  • Work in coordination with Maintenance Programs, and Reliability to provide justification for maintenance program revisions and interior modifications.
  • Monitor (stay current) with Sun Country Airlines aircraft modification status.
  • Issue Engineering Task Cards to address aircraft interiors related repairs and alterations.
  • Provide technical support for aircraft interiors fleet upgrades and modifications.
  • Offer on-site and remote assistance for aircraft interiors maintenance work to support Sun Country Airlines maintenance personnel.
  • Provide after-hours engineering support for aircraft interiors issues encountered during maintenance activities and line operations.
  • Review and determine appropriate actions for Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, Service Letters, and new technology programs.
  • Assist maintenance teams with the disposition of Minimum Equipment Lists (MELs) and Deferred Maintenance Items (DMIs) related to aircraft interiors.
  • Conduct all tasks in a safe and efficient manner complying with all local, state, and federal safety and health regulatory requirements, programmatic standards, and with any internal policies and procedures identified by Sun Country Airlines.
  • Any other duties assigned by management.


Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience plus ten (10) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalent subject matter competency.
  • At least five (5) years of in a 121 or 135 airline engineering environment.
  • Proficient in engineering principles applicable to aircraft interiors.
  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations and other government requirements related to commercial avionics.
  • Able to clearly articulate complex technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply logical reasoning and scientific principles to solve complex problems.
  • Strong project management capabilities with excellent organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
  • Committed to high standards of customer service and relationship management.

  • Prioritizes safety and security for self and others at all times.
  • Must be able to obtain MSP SIDA badge.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER) designation.
  • Previous interiors engineering experience with 737 aircraft.


Compensation:

$115,000.00-130,000.00. This is the base compensation hiring range for this role.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets.
