Inventory Control Manager Position Purpose

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Inventory Control Manager to oversee the company's parts stocking levels, working in conjunction with branch parts managers and regional parts managers across 12 locations. This role requires creative, outside-the-box thinking to optimize inventory analysis and stocking methods while maintaining the highest standards of integrity and increasing customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will manage relationships with over 10 manufacturers and vendors, ensuring seamless communication and operational efficiency ensuring Kirby Smith is a leader as a construction equipment dealer.

Inventory Control Manager Essential Functions



  • Develop and implement innovative inventory management strategies to optimize stock levels, reduce waste, and improve efficiency across all locations
  • Establish company stocking goals and parts fill rates
  • Manage and coordinate calls, demands, and relationships with 10+ manufacturers and vendors to ensure timely and accurate inventory replenishment
  • Manage vendor price tapes and establish pricing strategies for parts based on market trends, cost analysis, and organizational goals
  • Utilize advanced Excel skills and system tools to analyze inventory data, generate reports, and forecast stocking needs
  • Oversee daily, weekly and monthly vendor stock orders
  • Lead a team with a servant leadership approach, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment that aligns with organizational values of integrity and accountability
  • Maintain meticulous organization of inventory records, processes, and workflows to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align inventory strategies with business objectives
  • Generate reports on inventory levels, purchasing activities, and pricing performance for senior management
  • Analyze data to identify cost-saving opportunities, process inefficiencies, or supply chain risks
  • Provide recommendations to improve inventory management and procurement strategies
  • Oversee vendorKPIs to ensure compliance, driving successful outcomes and achieving performance goals
  • Continuously evaluate and improve stocking methods, leveraging creative problem-solving to address challenges and enhance operational performance.


Inventory Control Manager Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in inventory management, with a proven track record of innovative inventory optimization.
  • Exceptional Excel skills, including proficiency in data analysis, pivot tables, and advanced formulas.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage complex operations across multiple locations.
  • Excellent people skills, with a demonstrated ability to lead teams and build strong relationships with vendors and stakeholders.
  • Creative, outside-the-box thinking with a passion for developing new approaches to inventory and stocking challenges.
  • Unwavering commitment to integrity, ethical decision-making, and servant leadership principles.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and vendor relationships effectively.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English
  • Proficient with computer applications; shipping software preferred
  • Valid driver's license


Preferred Skills



  • Experience managing large-scale inventory operations ($20M+).
  • Familiarity with inventory management software and systems.
  • Strong negotiation skills to optimize vendor contracts and relationships.


Inventory Control Manager Physical Requirements



  • Pushing/Pulling/Lifting/Carrying up to 50 pounds without assistance
  • Physical ability to squat, twist, turn, bend, stoop, climb, and reach overhead
  • Must be able to work inside and outside, between buildings and offices, in dirty/dusty conditions
  • Physical ability to perform workfor extended hours
  • Works alone or as part of a team
  • Adheres to personal protective equipment (PPE) policy and maintains individual PPE
