Advanced Practice Nurse- Inpatient 1 Provides primary or specialty health care services within defined scope of practice in collaboration with a licensed physician and in accordance with MCW/FMLH/CHW policies and procedures.
Physician Assistant- Inpatient 1 Provides primary or specialty medical care within defined scope of practice under the supervision of a licensed physician and in accordance with MCW/FMLH/CHW policies and procedures.
Department Position Purpose Deliver comprehensive, specialty specific health care to pediatric pulmonary patients as directed by a licensed physician and in accordance with policies and procedures.
Core Responsibilities
- Performs comprehensive histories and physical exams, identifies normal and abnormal findings, including physical, cognitive and psychosocial status.
- Orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Develops pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans.
- Monitors effectiveness of plan of care.
- Educates patients on disease and treatment plans.
- Performs procedures as trained and appropriately credentialed.
- Documents within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and completes other necessary documents.
- Collaborates and/or consults with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate.
- Educates, counsels, and assists patients and families regarding current health problems, health maintenance activities and preventive behaviors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Department Specific Responsibilities
- Examine, treat and document care of patients with pulmonary disorders who are hospitalized.
- Support & assist with our growing Interventional Procedures program which has grown to 3 faculty.
- Includes care of patients in clinic including providing test/biopsy results, and scheduling follow-up visits while improving access for providers to see new patients.
- Teach and educate patient families. Instruct medical students, residents and affiliated health professionals (e.g. nurses, respiratory technicians, sleep technicians, referring providers) in a variety of pediatric pulmonary disorders, procedures and therapies.
- Participate in quality assurance activities within the Pulmonary division.
- Participate in research objectives and activities within the Pulmonary division as appropriate.
- Execute administrative duties applicable to the NP/PA role within the division.
- Serve on committees within the DOP, CW, or CSG as pertains to the division or for the benefit of the provider's career goals.
