Job Description

Summary:

The Director, Portfolio Marketing is responsible for develop and implement commercial strategies and programs that maximize customer demand and sales growth of our global portfolio of products, services, and solutions. This leader will also be responsible for bringing the portfolio of offerings (hardware, software, and services) to market, developing and executing a go-to-market strategy and set of programs anchored in relevant market trends, prioritized customer segmentation and needs, and in-depth competitive analyses.

The Director, Portfolio Marketing will need to bring a customer-focused, solutions mindset to guiding and leading the portfolio teams. This will be critical in driving an integrated approach to executing upon the x-business commercial priorities and articulating the full value proposition that the Rockwell portfolio brings to our customers. Additionally, they will need to be able to deliver a mix of strategies and plans that both grow the core Rockwell portfolio and ramp the strategically important ARR-based software and services representing new ways to win with our customers.

The Director, Portfolio Marketing will take an outside-in approach to drive differentiated value propositions and messaging for our portfolio of products and services, making them compelling to our prospects and customers. Additionally, they will ensure that the full breadth of the portfolio is represented in key go to market motions based on the portfolio strategy and company execution priorities.

Expert collaboration is required with peers in Marketing, Business Units (BUs), and Sales. They will also work closely with industry and regional marketing to tailor commercial strategies towards target segments and priority end markets.

This role will report directly to the VP, global Marketing & Chief marketing officer.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner across the organization to develop the commercial strategy, story, and marketing plan for our portfolio of products and services, aligned to our company's vision and strategic goals; deliver market insights to help support sustainable competitive advantage and drive commercial initiatives to achieve revenue results.
  • Function as a key commercial partner for the Business Unit leadership and provide critical commercial insights to help in portfolio strategy and planning, lead new product launch, planning, and execution.
  • Drive ongoing portfolio awareness, demand creation and enablement efforts and engage in ongoing business performance assessment and optimization efforts. Act as extended staff of senior business unit leaders and become a trusted advisor.
  • Fully engage with the business units in their business strategy review process to ensure critical external insights, company strategies and holistic solution roadmaps are well integrated.
  • Be a valued thinker, advisor, and implementer on special projects as marketing partners with all parts of the organization, helping to drive insights, alignment, and execution.
  • Be marketing's lead to support our company's inorganic growth strategy through partnerships, joint ventures, and acquisitions. Be the voice of Marketing for partnerships and transactions in the portfolio space.
  • Manage the hiring, development, and retention of the portfolio marketing team. Provide leadership, direction, and mentoring to guide staff in daily activities.
  • Provide insight and support to BU leadership to inform the identification and development of new offerings (products, solutions, or services).
  • Understand target buyer needs, market trends and the competitive landscape. Consider a range of sources such as sales, services, partners, analysts as well as primary and secondary research.
  • Build the go-to-market plan to support and grow the portfolio of offerings, including prioritizing and aligning target audiences, developing effective and unique messaging and building content architecture
  • Optimize marketing investment across the portfolio to execute strategy and maximize returns.
  • Own industry analyst relations, encompassing the following: identify and engage with key industry analysts influential in our target customers' buying process.
  • Collaborate with the BU to take advantage of analysts influence on building and testing portfolio roadmap and messaging, select and manage strategic RFIs for the best outcome, and make beneficial use of analysts in marketing activities.
  • Partner with the business units and Commercial Operations to improve the New Product Introductions (NPI) process including enterprise-wide templates and lead disciplined execution across the portfolio, including across the regions to achieve revenue targets.
  • Synchronize launches and bundle products to demonstrate the greatest value to prospects, customers, and the market.
  • Collaborate with sales and partner enablement, market access, commercial engineering, customers support to create a plan and oversee marketing contributions to drive sales and partner adoption of the portfolio.
  • Collaborate with peers to champion new ways to engage prospects and customers
  • Develop integrated campaigns comprised of market intelligence, reputation, demand generation, and sales/partner enablement programs/tactics. Collaborate with peers across marketing, market access, and sales including regions to gather input and drive alignment. Partner with regional Marketing teams, CoEs, and market access, to execute marketing campaigns in support of business objectives. Provide guidance to key regional stakeholders on prioritizing investment and resources based on customer needs and business priorities.
  • Oversee internal resources and external agencies tasked with creating effective content for Web sites, campaigns and sales/partner enablement
  • Collaborate with peers to ensure integrated campaigns are effective and maximize ROI through metrics & reviews. Formalize processes, measurement tools and reporting structure to support the portfolio marketing team's goals
  • Develop thought leadership pieces to ensure our portfolio of products and services is positioned effectively to deliver the business outcomes, applications, and capabilities, prospects and customers care most about.
  • Engage with Strategic partners to ensure a strong marketing message with respect to the combined strength of Rockwell Automation and our partner's product portfolios offerings and how they solve industry solutions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Legal authorization to work is required - we will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA preferred.
  • Proven results managing across global matrix organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective, cohesive, and collaborative teams. Outstanding coach, mentor, and developer of high performing teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 12 years of strategy and marketing experience as well as a successful track record of driving portfolio-oriented messaging.
  • Experience developing multi-year plans and ensuring implementation while leading cross-regional and functional teams to develop and execute winning strategies and solutions.
  • Experience in budget management including multi-year investments, capital, people by ensuring real-time accuracy of forecasting and expenses.
  • Experience in industrial automation domain ideally with depth of understanding of the full Rockwell Automation portfolio (products, software and services) and corresponding value propositions
