Job Requirements:

The Director of Risk Management serves as the facility Risk Manager and Patient Safety Officer. In this role, the Director assumes responsibility and accountability for planning, directing and evaluating the Risk Management program, and the hospital's Patient Safety Program. The Director exercises independent judgement with limited supervision. The Director of Risk Management, with training and experience in Risk Management works to manage the Technical Elements of Risk Management (TERM) program. The Risk Director has a solid line reporting structure to the hospital CEO with a dotted line reporting responsibility to the Corporate Risk Manager. The Risk Director overseas the Risk Coordinator/Analyst and assigns job tasks/responsibilities as needed. It is recommended that the Director of Risk Management obtain Certification in Professional Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM). The structure and functions of the Risk Management Program are designed to comply with guidelines and standards of The Joint Commission (TJC), Florida's Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA), and other regulatory agencies such as The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Technical Elements of Risk Management (TERM) Program. The Director of Risk Management is responsible for monitoring, coordinating, planning and implementing all risk activity that mitigates and controls risks associated with the hospital environment. The goal is ultimately a safe and effective environment for patients, employees, physicians and visitors as well as the protection of assets while demonstrating Service Excellence at all times. The Director of Risk Management will collaborate with Quality on all CMS clinical indicators to ensure best practices are provided as the standard of care. Lastly, the Director of Risk Management will be responsible for other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Two to five years' experience in all phases of risk management
  • Florida health care license in nursing or other related specialty clinical field preferred, completion from an approved Risk Management course, Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) preferred
  • Health care professional with experience in acute risk management
  • Minimum of three years managerial experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or in progress, and Quality Management training preferred
  • Computer proficiency to include word processing, spreadsheet and data base
