DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Clerical Assistant 1, you will be key in providing vital clerical and office support within the Cook Forest State Park Complex, which includes Ridge Campground, Cook Forest, and Clear Creek Park Offices. Your welcoming presence will be essential as you greet visitors and provide them with vital information about the park. This includes distributing relevant literature, directing individuals to various locations, collecting data, and managing incoming phone calls by screening and routing them appropriately. Additionally, you will oversee the daily operations of the computerized Parks Reservation and Revenue System, which involves making, canceling, and modifying reservations for cabins, camping sites, and shelters. You will also be responsible for creating after-hours posting signs and arrival reports for these accommodations. Daily reconciliation of funds with the amounts recorded in the system is necessary, which requires completing the cash balance form. For processing refunds, you must accurately enter details such as name, address, amounts, dates, and cancellation fees in accordance with established procedures.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Seasonal full-time employment, without benefits.
  • The season runs from approximately March 2025 until November 2025 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment approximately March 2026.
  • Shift hours and days vary due to 7 day per week operational needs, with a 30-minute lunch
  • Weekends, holidays, and all shifts as needed at 37.5 hours per week
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
