We are looking for an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to support our data center modernization and cloud migration initiatives. This role focuses on automating and managing scalable and secure infrastructure solutions across on-premises and cloud platforms, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platforms. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in cloud architecture and operations, along with leadership skills to mentor team members and collaborate across departments to enhance infrastructure performance, security, and incident response. On-site role located in Indianapolis, IN, or in Dayton, OH. Responsibilities:
Cloud Infrastructure Management: Work closely with the global cloud architects in the design, implementation, and cloud infrastructure using Azure technologies. Hybrid Architecture Expertise: Managing hybrid environments where on-premises systems and Azure cloud services interact, ensuring smooth communication and data flow. Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell and Terraform to streamline cloud operations and deployments. Azure Services: Manage and optimize Azure services, including Virtual Machines (Windows & Linux), Azure Arc, databases, API management platforms, load balancers, and networking components, and other related services. Cloud Adoption & Migration: Lead cloud adoption initiatives, including the migration of on- premises workloads to the cloud, ensuring minimal disruption and optimal performance. Cost Optimization: Monitor and manage cloud costs, implement cost-saving strategies and ensure efficient use of cloud resources. Incident and Service Request Management: Handle operational support tickets related to cloud services and infrastructure issues. Project Delivery: Lead and contribute to infrastructure projects such as service deployments, migrations, upgrades, and architecture improvements. Security & Compliance: Perform regular security assessments, enforce governance policies, ensure compliance with industry standards, and proactively identify and mitigate vulnerabilities. Collaborate with security teams to ensure that enterprise systems meet security standards and comply with industry regulations (e.g., SOX, ISO, PCI, GDPR). Performance Monitoring: Monitor system performance, availability, and usage metrics to ensure efficiency and reliable operations of on-prem and cloud environments. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of cloud infrastructure and provide regular reports on system performance and cost metrics. Team Leadership: Provide leadership for the infrastructure team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure knowledge of both on-prem and cloud technologies.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience. Experience: Managing Microsoft Azure Stack HCI with a minimum of 5 years of experience in systems administration with a focus on cloud technologies, particularly Azure. Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Administrator Associate, or equivalent, are a plus.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Azure services and architecture. Strong scripting skills with PowerShell and Terraform. Experience with Azure Arc and Virtual Machines. Knowledge of cloud adoption frameworks and best practices. Expertise in cloud cost management and optimization.
Soft Skills:
Excellent leadership and team management abilities. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Effective communication and documentation skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with other cloud platforms such as Google Cloud.} Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools. Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. Knowledge and experience with modern VMware ESX, Azure VMware Service, IaaS cloud services (EC2, Azure Compute), or languages and tools such as Python, JSON,YAML, ARM, Git is a bonus.
