HJF is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator I to perform clinical research and patient treatment in conjunction with one or more specified clinical research protocols. Developing adherence to legal, professional and ethical codes with respect to confidentiality and privacy. Helps assure that protocol requirements are achieved within Good Clinical Practices. This is the first of four levels, and the entry level position for the Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) series.

This position will support the Limb Optimization and Osseointegration Program (LOOP) at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC).

The Limb Optimization and Osseointegration Program (LOOP) located at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC), Bethesda, MD, was initiated in 2015 and with the goal of advancing the field of osseointegration as a capability within the Military Health System (MHS). Osseointegration (direct skeletal attachment of prosthetic limbs) has the potential of delivering improved functionality and quality of life to patients with major limb amputations. Walter Reed National Military Medical Center is the lead surgical institution to examine and advance osseointegration capabilities into the MHS to benefit our combat veterans and other beneficiaries.

  • Reviews new patient records and screens patients for eligibility in participation of research protocol. Interviews patients for protocols and collects and analyzes appropriate data for recruitment purposes, determine patient commitment and obtains informed consent. Educates patients about the research protocol, their roles in the protocols, and any other vital information.
  • Collect, organize, catalogs data accurately into appropriate electronic systems; maintain detailed and compliant source documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with investigators, clinical staff, sponsors and patients to facilitate seamless study operations. Serve as point of contact for patients coordinating patient and physician engagements.
  • Transcribes and resolves queries of data in case report forms (hardcopy or electronic) and prepares documents, under direction of project heads.
  • Adheres to legal, professional and ethical codes with respect to confidentiality and privacy. Assures that protocol requirements are achieved within Good Clinical Practices
  • Performs accurate and timely data entry from diverse sources, ensuring consistency and integrity across electronic databases (REDCAP, OpenClinica, etc) and source documents. Maintains comprehensive and well-organized study records to support data quality and audit readiness


Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 0-2 years experience required


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Knowledge of federal and local regulations and policies pertinent to research involving human subjects.
  • Excellent interpersonal and computer skills; ability to communicate effectively and to work with individuals of all levels.
  • Must have strong MS office experience. Good typing skills to allow online documentation of patient interactions.
  • Must have experience with Google Suite.
  • Preferred experience with phlebotomy.
  • Must have reliable transportation to move between WRNMMC and HJF home office in Bethesda, MD.
  • Preferred experience consenting human subjects for clinical research.


Physical Capabilities



  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer or in a OR for prolonged periods.


Work Environment



  • This position will take place primarily in a clinic setting.


Compensation



  • The annual salary range for this position is $43,650-$70,000. Actual salary pay will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
