JOB TITLE: Competition Crew

DIVISION: Ski & Ride School

REPORTS TO: Race Team Head Coach

LOCATION: Solitude Mountain Resort

CLASSIFICATION: Full Time/ Part Time/ Seasonal/ Hourly

PAY RATE: $18.65

POSITION:

The Competitions crew member safely prepares, operates, maintains, and dismantles on hill race training venues at Solitude Mountain Resort. In addition, crew members will provide support to mountain operations and events

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Intermediate skiing ability without using ski poles while carrying awkward loads
  • Desire and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to work well with others and provide quality guest services
  • Good communication, organization and teamwork skills required
  • Basic computer, cash register and point-of-sales skills required
  • Alpine ski racing and/or Freestyle skiing knowledge/experience preferred
  • Knowledge of ski race timing equipment and procedure desired but will train once hired


JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set-up/operate/maintain/dismantle a safe dual GS course for NASTAR/Group races
  • Set-up/maintain/remove a venue closure
  • Set-up/operate/maintain/dismantle race finish area (timing equipment, fences, etc.)
  • Set-up/operate/maintain/dismantle race start area (banners, fencing, computers, etc.)
  • Operate point of sale for credit card purchases
  • Record, display and announce racer finish times
  • Determine and award appropriate NASTAR medals to racers
  • Maintain/operate race venue in a safe manner consistent with accepted practices
  • Operate equipment and machinery in a safe manner following all Solitude Mountain Resort guidelines
  • Provide quality guest service by working together as a cohesive, responsible team
  • Provide guests with race venue information and other resort facts
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Team Solitude Manager or Ski and Ride School Management
  • Becoming a NASTAR pace setter will be required
  • Weekend Holiday and mid-week work will be required


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mountain Environment:

  • The primary physical environment in which this position works is out of doors with a high exposure level to cold, snow, wind, rain, bugs, sun, high altitude, extreme heights, lightning, etc...
  • Additional strenuous physical activity may include walking or hiking upon uneven, challenging terrain with equipment.
  • Exposure to: Ultraviolet radiation from the sun enhanced through lack of atmospheric filtration at work altitude.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and other employees.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
