Overview
Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care ( UBHC), established in 1971, offers a full continuum of evidence based behavioral health and addiction services for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors throughout New Jersey. UBHC's 1,060 experienced behavioral health professionals and support staff are dedicated to treatment, prevention, and education. UBHC, one of the largest providers of behavioral health care in the country, has a budget of $260 million and has 15 sites throughout New Jersey. Services are readily accessible and include: inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, screening, crisis stabilization, family/caregiver support, community outreach and case management, supportive housing, supported employment, prevention and consultation, employee assistance programs, and a licensed therapeutic school from preschool through high school.

Specialty services include the New Jersey suicide prevention helpline and peer help lines for police, veterans, active military, teachers, mothers of special needs children and child protective service workers. In FY2016, UBHC treated 16,199 consumers, had 24,502 admissions, and touched the lives of 19,441 individual callers through peer support. In addition, UBHC is the primary mental health training resource for the New Jersey departments of Human Services, Children and Families, and Corrections, delivering 16,000 trainings each year.
Posting Summary
Rutgers The State University is seeking a Program Coordinator in the Community Based Services within Rutgers University Behavioral Healthcare.

The primary purpose of the Program Coordinator position is to provide day-to-day clinical and administrative supervision to program staff. Monitors staff to assure that high quality case management, recovery support, and community support services are provided to individuals served.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Provides day-to-day administrative and clinical direction to the staff of assigned programs.
  • Directs the administrative organization of the program as evidenced by organization of case load assignment and coverage schedule.
  • Demonstrates ability to organize and prioritize work assignments and effectively delegate responsibility and authority to others as evidenced by supervisory observation.
  • Responsible for curriculum development of training materials and provision of initial and ongoing staff training to assure staff competencies and adherence with billing and/or grant requirements.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of professional standards and practices in the fields of mental health, rehabilitation, and substance use disorder services.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Master's Degree in appropriate mental health discipline plus four (4) years post graduate experience in a relevant mental health field.
Certifications/Licenses

  • All clinical licensing as required by discipline and the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (e.g. Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or a licensed Psychologist).
  • Applicants possessing a degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work.
  • Valid driver's license.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must possess own vehicle for use to outreach individuals served and monitor staff activities in the community.
Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) year of relevant supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience with community-based service provision preferred.
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Job entails frequent listening and communicating with people individually, in groups, as well as on the telephone.
  • Hearing is essential.
  • Ability to speak clearly is required.
  • Must be able to document using computer.
  • The employee spends much time sitting, driving, walking, and standing. Job requires ability to lift, bend, and climb up and down stairs.
  • Significant driving with variable driving conditions throughout the community.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The work environment includes clinic and community-based services and outreach.
  • Subject to unpredictable situations and crises, to include behavioral, medical and psychiatric.
  • Occasionally exposed to individuals exhibiting assaultive behaviors.
  • Exposure to blood borne pathogens that requires use of personal protective equipment.
