Department:ICE \| CORE Wound Care Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties:Under general direction, the Wound Ostomy Registered Nurse has authority, responsibility and accountability for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of wound and ostomy care throughout UAMS. Functions primarily as a consultant; provides direct patient care and education to selected patients. Provides for staff development in the areas of expertise. Responsible for product recommendations in areas of expertise. Maintains records and statistics reflecting role performance; participates in UAMS-wide committees and projects as indicated. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with Associates Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelors in Nursing, or Master's in Nursing. 3 or more years of nursing experience Current licensure as RN Strong leadership skills, ability to manage conflict in a variety of situations Strong customer service orientation Superior organizational skills Advanced communication, leadership and interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to align and motivate key process stakeholders, including nurses, physicians, and other clinical/administrative staff Strong skills in MS Office and database software Experience in Medical Record System Experience in Clinical Documentation Experience in Quality Monitoring and Analysis Knowledgeable in Infection Control principles and guidelines Employees in this role must be fitted for, capable of donning and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment to include N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR). Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Nursing or related field Graduation from an accredited WOC Nursing Education Program 5 or more years of nursing/leadership experience in an academic, acute care institution National Board certification in Wound and or Wound/Ostomy nursing. Knowledge in Epic Medical Record System Additional Information: Key Responsibilities: Direct Patient Care Collaborates with physicians for coordination of care and discharge planning. Collects data to assist development and revision of policy, procedures and protocols regarding specialty care. Educates staff in prevention and treatment, assessment, intervention, and evaluation. Assists staff to maintain current knowledge and competence in area of care. Follows protocols and treatment plans to evaluate and treat a variety of issues in the clinical setting. Reviews patient care and makes recommendations based on evidence-based practice. Manages and evaluates department stock items. Monitors proper utilization of Specialty Beds; handles specialty items ordered by physicians. Delivers and reviews specialty nursing care for patients. Provides independent consultation for patients to assist surgeons and physicians in diagnosis and treatment. Performs other duties as needed.
