Senior Ultrasound Technologist (Vascular Focus) - East Valley Region

Description

This position
will support the East Valley Region, primarily in the North Hollywood Imaging
Center. The East Valley Region is
currently made up of UCLA Health Santa Clarita Imaging and Interventional
Center, UCLA Health Porter Ranch Primary & Specialty Care, UCLA Health
North Hollywood Imaging and Interventional Center, and UCLA Health MPTF Toluca
Lake Primary Care. This position
participates in on-call, holiday, and weekend schedules, prepared by the
manager and supports one of the medical centers in the UCLA Health system. Additionally, participation in rotating
shifts is required, as needed.

In this role, you will:

  • Have a broad range of knowledge in
    General Ultrasound and a deep understanding of complex Vascular Ultrasound and
    Vascular Physiologic Testing
  • Provide age-appropriate assessment and
    interventions to meet the needs of patients and families served
  • Obtain, evaluate and use information
    from the patient requisition, medical records, referring physician and
    correlate with acquired images
  • Use cognitive sonographic skills to
    identify and differentiate anatomy and pathology
  • Use independent judgment to produce
    diagnostic images of human anatomy utilizing diagnostic ultrasound systems for
    our referring providers and our interpreting physicians
  • Extend courtesy to our patients,
    family members, visitors and co-workers through our "World Class Practices" Service
    Standards
  • Share knowledge and provide
    development in Vascular Ultrasound Technology to our team of Ultrasound
    Technologists

Senior Sonographer (Advancement into
Senior Sonographer job classification will be assessed after 6 months with UCLA
Health):

  • Minimum of four years of prior
    experience within the hospital / acute care setting
  • Must maintain Active RDMS
    certification in three specialties: Abdomen, OB-GYN and RVT
  • Proficient in Abdomen, OB/Gyn,
    Pediatric and Vascular Sonography. Additionally, proficiency in
    interventional procedures
  • Graduate of CAAHAP accredited
    ultrasound school is strongly preferred
  • Staff Salary Range: $62.43 - $76.12
    Hourly
  • Senior Salary Range: $55.94 - $73.81
    Hourly

Salary Range (Staff through Senior):
$55.94 - $76.12 Hourly

Senior Ultrasound Technologist



  • 4 years of prior acute care (hospital) experience - required (Advancement into Senior job classification will be assessed after 6 months with UCLA Health)
  • RDMS credential in Abdomen, OBGYN and RVT - required


General Requirements

* Ability to work with other sonographers to provide direction and training in the specialized area of Vascular Ultrasound, in addition to General Ultrasound - required

* BLS/CPR Certificate - required

* Graduate of CAAHAP ultrasound program - strongly preferred

* AAS or higher in Medical Sonography - preferred

* RDMS (AB, OB/GYN and RVT) - minimum requirement

Advanced skills in Vascular ultrasound - preferred

* Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, visitors, physicians, nurses, staff and others in a professional and courteous manner

* Ability to accept and carry out oral and written instructions accurately

* Ability to employ independent decision making, prioritize work, while handling multiple tasks to completion within allotted time

* Ability to show attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness

* Basic typing skills to input various data into RIS and HIS Information systems.

* Knowledge of medical terminology with the ability to distinguish between types of procedures within the assigned department(s) and medical diagnoses
