The Advanced Mechanical Strength Engineer will focus on simulation to support product development and research activity in the area of stress and fatigue for EDM and battery. The engineer will be responsible to develop and validate models, run simulations, post process and communicate results with internal customers. The individual will receive requests from product responsible department and respond with analytical results using available tools/methodology or will develop new tool/methodology if existing ones are not sufficient. The responsibility of the engineer will include, but not limited to: * Structural simulation including non-linear analyses under multiple loading conditions static / quasi static (pressure, thermal field, clamp load, vehicle load) aimed to assess stress, strain, sealing and bolts integrity. * Fatigue analysis with multiple loads (including thermal cycling) and time-step combinations. * Execution of casting analysis aimed to predict micro-porosity for a durability assessment under actual material properties. * DoE and optimization analysis aimed to ensure the best trade-off over durability and other performance (weight, NVH). * Detailed studies including root cause analysis on issues, identification and validation of enablers. * Correlation activities aimed to demonstrate the virtual analysis confidence level. * Technical coordination of CAE validations plans for propulsion systems program(s) including analysis scope / target agreement with stakeholders, timely delivery of status vs target and proactive identification / validation of enablers if target is not achieved. * Technical synthesis, reporting and communication with clear takeaways, executive summary and, if needed, root cause analysis and risk mitigation plan. * Direct interaction with STLA stakeholders for all the steering activities: input data collection, input data validation, results revision and communication. * Training and coaching of new engineers.
Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related degree field. * Minimum 7 years' experience and proven ability in CAE (preferably in mechanical strength). * Thorough knowledge of the English language including both written and oral communication. * Thorough knowledge on material laws and characteristic for stress and fatigue analysis. * Advanced knowledge of pre-processor softwares (ANSA), Finite Element solvers (Abaqus, NASTRAN, Optistruct) and fatigue softwares (FEMFAT, nCODE). * General knowledge of commercial CAD packaging including NX and Teamcenter. * Thorough knowledge of Microsoft office products. Preferred Qualifications: * Master of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Industrial, Computer Engineering, Applied Physics, or related degree field). * Thorough knowledge of Propulsion Systems design with focus on Battery, Electric Drive Module (EDM), conventional / electrified transmissions, axles and drivelines. * DFSS certification.
