Overview

Astrion is looking for a Journeyman Space Systems Engineer to support the Space Systems Integration Office (SSIO) Global Mission Operations (GMO) Space Integration Branch located at United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC), Los Angeles AFB, CA. This individual will support programs across the SSIO portfolio to develop and analyze capabilities, missions, operations, personnel and mature mission-critical systems across the USSF Space Enterprise. In addition, this individual will support integration activities of space systems to develop and deploy space system-of-systems capabilities across the SSC portfolio and USSF Space Enterprise.

Salary is in the 140k - 160k range. TS clearance is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development of mission-specific and cross-portfolio capabilities that integrate and augment current and future space systems
  • Analyze/assess mission areas to provide greater access to intelligence across programs and augment mission effectiveness for the collective portfolio
  • Perform Mission Engineering on Design Reference Missions and analyze mission threads for risks, issues and gaps
  • Conduct technical capability reviews at the system level up to and including system implementation to assess capability gaps and recommend solutions to support evolving space mission needs
  • Contribute to development of war rooms, capability epochs and kill chain assessments
  • Assist with enterprise requirements development and JCIDS documentation
  • Analyze policy and technical derivatives of cross-cutting requirements for space systems
  • Recommend practical, mission-driven solutions to meet performance, affordability, and sustainment goals
  • Develop and present briefings, technical reports and architectural roadmaps
  • Collaborate with SWAC, CSRO/S5R and PEO offices to define and prioritize integrated requirements for SATCOM, PNT, Missile Warning/Tracking/Defense, TacISR, SBEM, BMC3, Launch, etc.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS degree in a STEM field with emphasis in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Earth Science, Mathematics, Operations Analysis, or related field
  • 8 years + experience in design, development, implementation and deployment of technical space systems within USSF Space Enterprise mission areas
  • Proficient in the systems engineering process and disciplines (e.g., software engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, mission engineering)
  • Technical program leadership of a technical implementation team
  • Experience building, leading and maintaining a team of gov't members, SETAs, FFRDCs and contractors
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel); adaptable to new analytical tools
  • Proficiency in JIRA/Confluence
  • Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and complex tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to travel as required (up to 10% of the time)
