About this Marketing Role The Marketing organization influences decisions by establishing and communicating our full product value proposition across the full value chain, from payers, to health systems, to prescribers, to patients. Marketers are masterful storytellers - accountable to inform positioning using an insight-driven marketing strategy, deliver simple compelling customer-led content creation, and design outstanding integrated customer experiences in partnership with networked partners (e.g. Customer Engagement and DDA). Marketers strategically use resources and their network to drive patient outcomes for today's innovations, and fuel tomorrow's breakthroughs. This Senior Director, Marketing Content Strategy & Excellence is integral to successfully delivering the Digital Marketing Vision. The Digital Marketing Office, led by the Head of Digital Marketing and reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, drives Genentech's digital marketing transformation and is focused on activating 4 key areas. One of these focus areas is Content Strategy & Excellence. The candidate in this role will envision and drive the strategy for content creation, approval, and deployment at the enterprise level. This role will develop and shepherd the 1Marketing content vision, standards, and processes enabling the fast creation of impactful personalized content with hypothesis-based experimentation and data-driven decision- making. This candidate will lead the content excellence team within the Digital Marketing Office and will serve as the business owner for AURORA, leading the cross-functional effort to design, implement, and maintain Genentech's genAI-enabled content creation and approval transformation. This candidate will also be responsible for cultivating and managing relationships with agencies of record, including 1Marketing's creative production vendor, to drive increased quality, content throughput, and manage cost. They will provide content thought leadership and partner closely with the Content Suite Steward in XO (Experience Operations) in addition to SAI (Strategic Analytics and Insights), and IX (Informatics) to align on a roadmap for capability evolution and implementation. This role requires an influential strategic thinker with an understanding of content, media, brand, healthcare marketing, performance evaluation, and emerging technologies. Key Job Responsibilities
Build best-in-class content capabilities rooted in data-driven, customer-centric, and agile principles that position marketing as the primary growth driver in partnership with multiple stakeholders, technologies, and platforms. Lead a team responsible for evaluating business needs to inform best-in-class content capabilities, delivering content creation and approval efficiencies and quality improvements to more effectively engage customers, diagnose process opportunities to streamline workflows, and enable the adoption of capabilities by ensuring the effective coaching of the marketing organization. Establish efficiency and impact goals for content and monitor program performance against them. Align strategies and roadmaps with Genentech's marketing goals in partnership with functional leaders across the organization. Manage content program investments, ensuring financial accountability by monitoring, tracking, and optimizing program budgets. Provide comprehensive program oversight and regularly present progress, decisions, and results to Genentech Senior Executives on the AURORA Steering Committee and executive Marketing and Finance leaders to support informed decision-making and strategic alignment. Serve as a thought leader and trusted advisor within the organization, including across senior leaders at the VP and SVP level, and provide insights and guidance on best practices, trends, and opportunities in content and digital marketing. Oversee experiments and content innovation pipeline using emerging technologies and methodologies to enhance content effectiveness, personalization, and customer experience. Responsible for Creative Production Vendor (US branch of Roche Lab) relationship, overseeing the design of the service model, conducting regular business reviews, ensuring exceptional service quality, and managing to budget. Ensure successful capacity planning for the creative production vendor to maximize performance and efficiency. Build and nurture strong relationships with the Roche Content Lab and external agencies of record, serving as the main point of contact, providing guidance on content creation, and conducting regular performance evaluations. Contribute to the Agency of Record governance model as 1Marketing content lead, ensuring governance body drives AOR adherence to organization's content strategy. Track the pharma industry and outside industry trends in content excellence, identifying key trends that could benefit Genentech and articulate ways to apply them. Collaborate with functional partners to align on broader business strategies, roadmaps, and implementations. Oversee engagement and adoption of content workflows and program enhancements across the 1Marketing portfolio, including change and knowledge management, training, and integration of content initiatives into overall marketing plans and special projects. Oversee content operational health, including execution processes, agency engagement, and technology features and requirements. Hire, lead, coach, and develop the content marketing team, establishing a culture of high-performance, belonging, and job satisfaction. Partner with other leads within the Digital Marketing Office Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence. Contribute to the overall Digital Marketing transformation and vision. Complies with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Genentech activities. Contributes leadership skills, insights/knowledge and courage to embrace new approaches in order to help identify innovative priorities, plans and tactics that will help improve year-on-year brand adoption to maximize the number of patients who currently benefit from treatment. Lead the development and execution of enterprise-wide profitable growth strategies and strategic roadmaps for short and long term success, in alignment with Genentech's marketing goals. Complies with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Genentech activities.

Who you are: Minimum Candidate Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree 10 years minimum work experience with 8 years of commercial experience (e.g. market access, marketing, sales or customer insights), 4 of which must be in a marketing role.
Preferred : Additional Desired Candidate Qualifications & Experience
MBA or other related graduate level degree preferred Marketing experience in relevant industries Experience in the managed care, Pharmaceutical or Biotech industry/pharmaceutical or biotech customer engagement Experience in creating marketing strategies, plans, and tactics that have strengthened market positioning and driven high-value customer and business outcomes Extensive brand experience, deep functional partner understanding, and comprehensive portfolio content experience, including a proven ability to understand, strategize, and execute impactful marketing initiatives Extensive experience in content creation workflows across digital channels and customer types Expertise in the design or execution of GenAI-enabled Content Creation processes Expertise in the design or execution of Modular Content processes Extensive experience managing AOR relationships, budgets, and large scopes of complex creative work Experience delivering exceptional outcomes under hyper-accelerated timelines Ability to drive a data-driven content program, focusing on metrics that matter and business performance without unnecessary complexity and overanalysis Expertise in all aspects of Product Marketing including positioning, branding, campaign development and channel mix Deep knowledge of the healthcare ecosystem including health economics, policy and the regulatory environment Deep knowledge of each customer type e.g. HCPs, patients, payers, IDNs, distributors, pathways Ability to think with an enterprise mindset Ability to demonstrate a breadth of diverse leadership experiences, develop and coach others Ability to influence and inspire individuals and teams across the CMG network, from front-line employees to the executive level Ability to flex and thrive in an ambiguous environment undergoing transformational change Strong customer orientation and focus Adaptive thinking and a strong, critical mindset. The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of CA is $222,500 - $413,300. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
