Pay Rate/Range: The budgeted hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $24.29/hr. to $ 31.42/hr. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. The full hourly range for this position is $ 24.29 to $33.36/hr.

Brief Summary of Job Duties:

Operates computerized inventory and material management systems such as TMA and Gateway to maintain records of all purchasing and inventory transactions. Is responsible for the daily shipping and receiving aspects for the Facilities Management department, including tracking partial orders as necessary. Provides back up to department purchaser and delivery position. Monitors and writes orders for all on hand inventory within the storeroom. Position requires specialized knowledge of equipment and parts for the trades of Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, Painting, and Locksmith. Must have knowledge of irrigation systems and parts for ordering.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma.
  • 1-3 years In Warehouse/Retail Setting
  • Position requires specialized knowledge of equipment and parts for the trades of Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, Painting, and Locksmith.

Special Conditions of Employment:

  • Requires certification in operation of fork lift; certification will be provided by Department.
  • Master key access to University-owned residence and/or other facilities
  • Responsibility for operating commercial vehicles, machinery or toxic systems that could cause accidental death, injury or health problems
  • A requirement for a professional license, certification or degree, the absence of which would expose the University to legal liability and/or adverse public reaction
  • Required to hold a valid driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies and procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program.

Misconduct Disclosure Requirement:

Job Functions and Percentages of Time:

  • 50% - Material Handling - Receives and issues stock material. Prepares issue receipts against invoices and bills of lading. Restocks material for storeroom insurance purposes. Inspects all items received, handles freight claims, and quantifies shortages, breakage, and duplicate shipments. Follows up on partial shipments and backorders. Delivers products/stock to appropriate shops/locations daily and on a scheduled basis. Restocks materials for storeroom issuance purposes. Works with Lead Storekeeper to identify new stock items and to identify outdated stock and replenish with new material.
  • 25% - Data Entry & Record Keeping - Maintains material issue records utilizing computerized inventory management system, WebTMA. Receives purchase orders daily in Gateway and WebTMA. Operates computerized inventory and material management systems to maintain perpetual records of all inventory transactions. Monitors on hand inventory though regular audits and writes purchase requests for all needed inventory within the storeroom.
  • 15%- Purchasing, Customer Service & Operations - Provides dedicated customer service through robust verbal and written communications with internal and external clients. Tracks the current status of orders so the Stockroom can provide Design Facilities & Safety Services with delivery dates of parts, equipment and services. Assists with purchasing functions, as a backup to the Lead Storekeeper. Locates best vendor choice for stock and non-stock orders. Enters orders into Gateway, the campus procurement system, while choosing the appropriate accounting and commodity codes. Provides purchase order status from initiation to completion. Performs other duties as assigned.
  • 10% - Power Equipment Handling - Operates powered material handling equipment such as forklift and pallet jacks in the palletizing (load and unloading) of materials and/or supplies. Uses equipment to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
