Job Title:

Electronic Engineering Technician

Objective:

Safely operate bench test equipment to perform validations and repairs on railroad equipment to include: electronic, computer, electrical equipment. Perform repairs using manual and power tools. Work on wide range of electronic equipment, computer systems, and mechanical equipment under the supervision of the electronic work center supervisor. Perform automated and manual testing on circuit boards, computer systems, and a variety or other electronic equipment. Follow all electronic, electrical, mechanical and CFC safety requirements. Use MS Office programs to include Access for creating reports and analysis. Use SAP to input and track completed task. Train and assist other technicians on shop process and safety standards. Advise Technical Engineers and or Shop Supervisors as requested.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:




  • Adhere to established safety procedures in Technical Work Center and New Castle Facility.
  • Ability to validate and repair equipment from multiple shops in the Technical Work Center.
  • Electronics Work Center:

    • Validation, repair, and testing on electronic, electrical, and computer systems.
    • Assemble and repair electronic and computer systems: circuit board repair (Component Level), soldering, wiring, and connectors.
    • Use, operate, and repair of electronic test equipment
    • Writing reports, recording data, and describing equipment failures.


  • Capture, save, and interpret failure logs.
  • Assist with creating electronic, electrical and mechanical schematics/drawings.
  • Working in ESD facility.
  • Assist with building and repairing bench test equipment.
  • Working with compressed air and pneumatic tools and equipment.
  • Use precision measuring devices. Operate osciliscope, voltmeter, megger, chart recorder, high voltage DC & AC power supplies.
  • Safe use and operation of power tools to include but not limited to: drill, drill press, chop saw, angle grinder, and table saw.
  • Safe use and operation of hand tools to include but not limited to: wire crimpers, wire strippers, screwdrivers, pliers, hammers, wrenches, torque wrenches, files, and socket sets.
  • Repair 120 / 240 VAC equipment.
  • Familiar with Dos, Windows 95 to current, M.S. Office with strong Excel skills, and basic understanding of LON communications.
  • Advise Technical Engineers or Shop Supervisor on daily processes & decisions.
  • Able to assist and train other technicians on product repairs, data entry, and other Alstom processes.
  • Proper use of PPE while preforming daily tasks and counsel others on proper safety standards.



Education Requirement:

High School Diploma Required

Two to four year degree and/or equivalent military background in electronics preferred

Experience:




  • Mandatory:
  • Experience in electronicstesting & repairs.
  • The ability to use Schematics, Oscilloscopes, Multimeter's, and other tools to troubleshoot electronic equipmentto the component level.


  • Desireable:
  • Knowledge of rolling stock maintenance
  • Working knowledge of safety management systems and safety risk assessment
  • Strong understanding of electronic principles, circuit design, and testing procedures.
