Alternative Portfolio Services (APS)

Alternatives Portfolio Services (APS) offers comprehensive discretionary portfolio construction, management, and implementation services for GS Private Wealth (GS PWM or PWM) clients who are looking to invest in the private markets. APS provides clients with a core, diversified portfolio of alternative investments, leveraging high-quality managers on the GS platform.

The APS team sits within Alternative Capital Markets (ACM), part of Asset & Wealth Management at Goldman Sachs. Through ACM, APS offers GS PWM clients access to an open-architecture platform of alternative investments, sourced via the following channels:

  • Manager Selection Strategies: Manager selection strategies managed by the Goldman Sachs External Investing Group, which seeks to identify top-tier GPs investing in opportunities across the lifecycle of companies
  • External Manager Offerings: High-quality external strategies, sourced and structured by the ACM team, offering clients access to a broad platform of custom opportunities
  • Private Placements: A highly curated set of co-investment and direct investment opportunities, sourced via the deep networks of Goldman Sachs and our unique partnerships with external managers

APS generally sources investments for client portfolios based on what is broadly available to GS PWM clients through the ACM platform, although may from time to time offer exclusive investment offerings available exclusively to APS and/or a limited subset of clients.
