The Epic Analyst - Willow - Pharmacist specializes in the medication use process in Epic and integrated systems and is responsible for effective process design, development, and implementation of solutions within Willow, Beacon, and related clinical applications. The Epic Pharmacist is responsible for combining clinical, operational, and technical expertise in the complex design, development, and maintenance of the EHR's library of electronic, clinical tools and decision support. This role requires strong clinical and analytical skills, strong proficiency in Epic's application tools, and the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions. As an Epic Pharmacist, you will be a key player in maintaining, optimizing and enhancing the Epic system.

Job Duties

*Evaluate, analyze and synthesize information from various evidence-based sources and translate information into different types of electronic clinical tools such as order sets, treatment plans, protocols, monitoring tools, dispensing tools, and decision support.
*Combine clinical experience and knowledge with technical build skills to ensure electronic clinical tools support clinical workflows, ensure patient safety and provide standardization in patient care where possible
*Participate in the development, regular reviews and approvals of electronic clinical tools through multidisciplinary workgroups
*Participate in the activities required to maintain all clinical tools with up-to-date clinical content based on evolving medical literature, VCU Health clinical practice changes, research study amendments and/or regulatory changes
*Assist in the design, development and implementation of order sets and other clinical decision support tools needed for implementing P&T decisions.
*Collaborate across sites to support treatment consistency and standardization across organizations
*Translates intermediate requirements into technical specifications and leads teams through decisions on the best way to configure and utilize the system.
*Supports, troubleshoots, and maintains day-to-day existing functionality/ clinical tools/ applications
*Provide IT solutions and services that contribute to medication and patient safety
*Assists in identifying any barriers to adoption of clinical practice; analyzes the functionality of the system and how it fits or not with operations.
*Lead or coordinate small to medium-scale projects
*Provides Technical Support or education to end users on application tools and workflows
*Provides on-call support for one or more applications Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
Current licensure with the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
Current licensure with the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy
Certification in job relevant Epic module(s).
Successful Epic certification(s) completion required within 60 days of final training.
Experience REQUIRED:
Three years to six years hospital pharmacy experience
Possesses thorough knowledge of the inpatient environment and clinic based operations, procedures/functions and the relationships between them and the hospital Understand the integration of applications and their impact on business processes and operations Demonstrate innovative forward thinking, able to meet project deadlines, delivers to commitments, possess high level of energy and professional acumen, and be client service oriented.
Knowledge of physician practice/healthcare professional services, billing requirements, hospital administration and/or processes
Ability to communicate on a professional level with physicians, nurses and other professional staff when discussing drugs and drug related problems
Ability to work at a high technical level on all phases of application systems analysis, workflow analysis, build, design, testing, interface knowledge and programming activities
Experience PREFERRED:
Previous Epic experience in the training, build, and/or support of the Epic systems electronic health record suite
Education/training REQUIRED:
Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with a B.S. in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. Degree
Education/training PREFERRED:
Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an accredited academic program
Independent action(s) required:
