Literacies in Language Education Initiative Faculty Co-Leader

This position will work with the Director of the Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition on the Literacies in Language Education initiative. This initiative is designed to improve language teachers' understanding and application of multiliteracies pedagogy in secondary and postsecondary contexts.

The Literacies Initiative Faculty Co-Leader will work directly with the CARLA director to:
Review and publish lesson plans for LCTL teachers
Organize professional development opportunities about literacies in language education for teachers and teacher educators in the upcoming academic year.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
Master's or professional degree in a language education related field
Demonstrated understanding of multiliteracies pedagogy in the secondary/postsecondary language education context
Active use of multiliteracies pedagogy in the language classroom

Preferred Qualifications
Current faculty status at the University of Minnesota in a language-related program
Documented research experience with literacies in language education
Published work related to multiliteracies pedagogy in language education
Significant record of presentations related to literacies in language education

About the Department

The Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition (CARLA) is a Title VI Language Resource Center devoted to improving language teaching and learning.

CARLA's mission is to study multilingualism and multiculturalism, to develop knowledge of second language acquisition, and to advance the quality of second language teaching, learning, and assessment by:

  • conducting research and action projects
  • sharing research-based and other forms of knowledge across disciplines and education systems
  • extending, exchanging, and applying this knowledge in the wider society
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: Total salary of $2,500.
