Program Specialist

LMI is seeking a Program Specialist to support the development of innovative technologies at NASA. The Program Specialist will support NASA's Space Technology Research Grants (STRG) Program Office in the management and coordination of early-stage technology development grants. This role includes oversight of technology development progress, compliance tracking, grant reporting, and identification of commercialization opportunities. Specialists will also support engagement with the Technology Transfer (T2) Program and contribute to the evolution and maintenance of grant management systems and processes.

There are two primary focus areas:

Faculty and Institute Grant Programs (e.g., Early Career Faculty, Early Stage Innovations, Space Technology Research Institutes)

• Coordinate technology development reporting and compliance across STRG grant portfolios.

• Track grant deliverables, validate technical milestones, and identify technologies with commercialization or NASA infusion potential.

• Support interactions with NASA's Technology Transfer (T2) Program for review and submission of New Technology Reports (NTRs).

• Contribute to system design, testing, and operational input for NASA's grant management platforms.

• Compile and deliver recurring reports and updates including:

  • Licensing/patent activity

  • Compliance and transition metrics

  • Grantee period-of-performance validation

  • Technical milestone achievements and success stories

• Prepare documentation and inputs for internal program reviews and stakeholder briefings (PMC, PSR, etc.).

• Collaborate with NASA civil servants and contractor staff across NASA Centers to support STRG program execution.

• Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, STEM, Business Administration, or related field.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in grants or program management, ideally within a federal or R&D environment.

• Demonstrated ability to coordinate across large, multi-stakeholder programs and track deliverables and compliance metrics.

• Familiarity with technology transfer concepts and reporting (e.g., NTRs, IP, licensing).

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.

• Prior experience supporting NASA or other federal R&D grants programs.

• Experience with federal grant management tools and data systems (e.g., NSPIRES, STRG platforms).

• Familiarity with generative AI tools and prompt engineering to support automation of data analysis, reporting, or document generation.

• Proficiency in the Microsoft Power Suite (e.g., PowerApps, PowerBI, PowerAutomate, etc.)
