Summary
|
The Financial Aid Loan Administrator position requires an individual who is dynamic, student-oriented, and a critical thinker. This position is responsible for the overall administration of Federal Direct Loans and various private education loans. This position will perform a variety of duties associated with the Title IV financial aid eligibility evaluation process, including reviewing student and family financial aidinformation and determining the type and amount of financial assistance to be awarded. This position will require applicants to have a genuine interest in promoting student success.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties
|
1. Administer and monitor all loans (Federal, private, and institutional) totaling $43 million annually which includes: 2. Meet with and take phone calls from current and prospective students and families and assist them with understanding the financial aid process. 3. Provide excellent customer service and demonstrate empathy, understanding, and care in all student and family interactions. 4. Ensure the security and integrity of confidential student data. 5. Develop and maintain policies, procedures, forms and communications related to loan processing and Federal Direct Loan administration through interpretation and implementation of federal legislation. 6. Transmit electronic origination and disbursement data to and from the US Dept. of Education within the required timeframe, coordinate federal fund draw downs, and resolve conflicts and potential over awards. 7. Receive and process all alternative/private education loan certifications and monitor the institutional obligations that accompany the programs. 8. Present and provide coverage as needed for local financial aid information sessions, counselor sessions, financial literacy presentations, and Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) nights. 9. Perform various need analysis functions using financial aid information submitted by applicants utilizing established federal, state and University standards and guidelines to determine financial need. 10. Assist with monitoring all federal, state, and University compliance and regulatory issues. 11. Prepare detailed reports and compile information concerning undergraduate financial aid and assigned programs as requested by the US Department of Education and University officials. 12. Other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures

* Bachelors Degree
|
Required Experience
|
* Experience using complex databases with the ability to define specifications for database programming. * Skill and experience in project management and organizational effectiveness while maintaining strict attention to detail. * Experience using advanced features of Microsoft Office including Excel.

Desirable Education and/or Experience
|
* Experience working in a college or university financial aid office. * Experience with the Federal Direct Loan Program * Experience using Banner and/or Perceptive Content. * Public administration, accounting, banking, finance, or other business experience

Work Environment and/or Physical Demands
|
Evening and weekend work will be required. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. The work environment is that of a typical office setting. |
