Discipline: Theatre & Dance Position: Full-Time, 9-month, Instructor of Practice, Non-Tenure Track Start Date: August 2025 Posted: July 9, 2025 Samford Universitys School of the Arts invites applicants interested in serving in a Christian university environment to apply for the position of Instructor of Practice in Theatre Production. This full-time position will begin in August 2025. The candidate should, at minimum, have a BA or BFA in Theatre Production from an institutionally accredited university (or equivalent). Candidates should provide a record of professional work in the field, such as a portfolio link, or examples of professional work. The candidate will be expected to teach five sections of THEA 201 Theatre Production Lab, supervise students, and assist in the construction of the departments scenery and props with the guidance of the departments Technical Director. The candidate must have the ability to lift a minimum of 40lbs, must have experience with power tools, and must have the ability to teach students how to safely use them. Ideally, the candidates will have experience in an additional technical field such as Stage Management, Properties Management, or Media Design and will be expected to mentor students and exhibit leadership in the areas where they have expertise. This is a new position, and the candidate will be joining an experienced production team with the intent of the position being to add another capable member to that team.
