Material Industrialization Engineer

You will be provided with a great environment to learn and develop your proficiencies which will open many paths for long-term career opportunities within Michelin. WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Work with Central Research & Development teams (located in Greenville) to help bring new materials (raw materials, rubber compounds) to market for new tires (passenger cars, mining tires, truck tires, racing cars...). Participate in material property/tire performance risk analysis.
- Perform local risk analysis, lead associated action plans, plan trials, set up the new material formulas for the plant.
- Define the best manufacturing processes for new materials to ensure they meet Michelin Quality Standards, Michelin sustainability and competitiveness goals and manufacturing efficiency needs.
- Lead and coordinate trials with production operators, maintenance mechanic/ electric/ automation/ quality technicians, laboratory, R&D...
- Run test materials on the industrial production equipment. Work on the shop floor to address issues during mixing trials. Cut rubber samples and provide them to the laboratory.
- Collect and analyze results (production processability, lab results such as rheology, rigidity, hysteresis...) Provide feedback from trials to improve parameter set ups for the next trial. Share information with R&D for technical validations ("design reviews").
- Collaborate with others to solve problems and overcome challenges that occur during the industrialization process.
- Spend time on the shop floor to help resolve production issues.
- Engage with domain experts in production, quality, methods, automation, maintenance, project management to carry out quality tests for homologation, qualification, and demonstration of the industrial adaptability of new equipment.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- Efficiently work in an industrial production environment (manufacturing).
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact in a professional manner with all levels of the organization.
- Strong teamwork, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Effective problem-solving skills and ability to learn process/product relationships.
- BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Process or Chemical preferred) Chemistry or Physics.
- Co-Ops, intern or previous plant experience in a manufacturing environment is required. 1-2 years of manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of how to use Microsoft Office Tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point, Power BI) and ability to become proficient in internal software systems.
