DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will engage in professional activities focused on the planning and coordination of statewide ecological initiatives aimed at safeguarding, conserving, and managing plant and wildlife resources along with their habitats. This will involve overseeing environmental review processes and managing the content associated with the Pennsylvania Conservation Explorer (PACE). You will supervise contract positions dedicated to environmental review within the Natural Heritage Section and play a key role in the administration and oversight of the PACE environmental review tool. Additionally, you will assist in addressing issues related to the Pennsylvania Natural Diversity Inventory (PNDI) receipt payments and contribute to the management of content on the Pennsylvania Natural Heritage Program (PNHP) web pages. Collaboration with partner agencies will be essential as you work to resolve environmental review challenges. Furthermore, you will be responsible for providing outreach, communication, and training to the Bureau, Department, and the public regarding the PACE tool and the environmental review process, ensuring that stakeholders are well-informed and equipped to engage with these important ecological programs.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 5 days per pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • This position may require overnight travel as needed.
  • This position may be eligible for an alternate work schedule (AWS).
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Wildlife Biologist 2 or Natural Resource Program Specialist 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years of experience as a Forester (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years of professional experience in management of plant, wildlife, or natural resources and a bachelor's degree in biology, botany, ecology, environmental science, forestry, natural resources management, or a closely related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:
