Summary Radiographs metal castings and wax patterns and inspects films for flaws, cracks, or presence of foreign materials by performing the following duties.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.




  • Shoot X-Ray Images and develops images
  • Catalog images
  • Aligns castings on table beneath x-ray tube and film cassette.
  • Masks peripheral areas with lead shields.
  • Loads film in accordance with approved x-ray techniques.
  • Verifies densities of exposed film are acceptable to reqired techniques.
  • Adjusts controls of x-ray equipment on console or exposes source of radioactivity to take radiograph.
  • Removes film and processes through developer.
  • Monitors working area to protect personnel. Performs daily equipment
  • preparation and radiation safety inspections.

Education and/or Experience


High school diploma, general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.



Language Skills



Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.



Mathematical Skills



Ability to apply concepts of basic arithmetic and geometry.



Reasoning Ability



Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.



Additional Requirements, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations



Must have completed 80 hours minimum organized training plus 1200 hours minimum work experience in industrial radiography. Successful completion of three qualification examinations with a minimum average score of 80% as required by industry standards NAS-410 and SNT-TC-1A.



Other Qualifications Requirements




  • Must pass near vision-JAEGER Type No. 1 test and Color Perception test.
  • Must be able to maintain certification with periodic testing per industry standards.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical equipment.
