The Summers Laboratory is seeking a motivated individual to fill the position of Laboratory Assistant with an anticipated start date of August 25th, 2025. This hourly position is for a six-month term with potential for extensions as determined by the supervisor. In addition to performing laboratory duties listed below, this individual will be expected to read primary literature related to scientific interests in the Summers Lab and participate in weekly lab meetings.

Laboratory duties will include:

* Lab maintenance activities such as preparing solutions, pouring plates, restocking supplies, sterilizing glassware

* Performing dissections under a microscope

* Maintenance of primary neuron cultures

* Performing well-controlled experiments and data analysis

* Maintaining a detailed lab notebook and records

* Following standard safety protocols when performing tasks

Required Qualifications

1) Completed coursework related to Neurobiology

2) Comfortable handling mice and following approved animal care guidelines

3) Experience working cooperatively with others in group setting

Desired Qualifications

1) Experience handling neuron cultures in a laboratory or classroom setting

2) Highly motivated to learn new skills and independently design experiments
