Job Title: Dentist (On call)

Location: Washington, DC 20001

Duration: 3+ months to long Term

Pay Rate: $90-$100/Hour

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Treatment plans are then developed from the assessments.
  • Services include but not limited to intraoral; amalgam, resin, labial veneer, pulpotomy, extraction and emergency care.
  • Completes dental evaluations to assess for medication, diagnostic clarification and/or treatment planning recommendations.
  • Provides oversight for licensed independent providers.
  • Attend staff and/or youth meetings (clinical staffing and/or team meetings) or other pertinent meetings as deemed necessary.
  • Interacts with Client medical and behavioral health staff in the coordination of care for youth with medical and psychiatric problems and to:

    Provide medical expertise in difficult and complex situations.

    Assist in the coordination of care of youth with somatic health problems.
  • The provider shall provide direct and indirect dental services to youth committed or detained by the court for observation, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation with the client.

    Provide appropriate recommendations and prescriptions for youth being discharged.
  • Write orders for medication and related somatic health services

    Indirect Medical Services
  • Provides consultation to unit staff and other non-clinicians as needed.
  • Provides consultation, opinions, and advice regarding extremely difficult clinical and related issues.
  • Maintains clinical documentation on all youth under his or her care in the Client Electronic Health Record
  • Participates in peer review and quality improvement activities (i.e. participation on Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee) as needed.
  • Experience using Centricity (EHR) required as contractor will likely be tasked with training incoming staff and contractors

    Complete all required training courses.as required by Client including electronic health record training.
  • Must be available by telephone 24 hours per day/7 days per week for consultation regarding youth when serving as backup.
  • Experience in the provision of direct dental services to adolescents is required including service to youth involved in the juvenile justice system.
  • Experience working within a juvenile Justice secure facility is highly desirable. Must be willing to work as a part of a Multidisciplinary team including, professional and nonprofessional staff.
  • The Contractor shall be available on an as needed basis with the flexibility to meet emerging situations on a timely basis except when on prior notified leave.
  • The Contractor will be notified at least 2 weeks in advance of need for services.
  • Complete documentation on date seen (problem list, progress notes, orders, initial assessments) in Electronic health record for all youth.
