What to Expect

The Autobidder team develops and maintains the physical dispatch and electricity market trading strategies for front-of-meter and behind-the-meter storage systems providing Grid Services. We are an algorithmic trading team that develops systematic software solutions for monetizing energy storage by continuously forecasting electricity market prices, analyzing key market trends, and actively re-optimizing behavior. We have repeatedly demonstrated success in residential, commercial, and utility-scale settings. Our products are contracted to manage over 7GWh of energy storage worldwide and have returned over $420 million in trading profits, and we're slated for rapid growth on the horizon.

We are looking for experienced meteorologists with energy trading experience, who are passionate about accelerating the grid's transition to sustainable energy. You will join a mission-driven and top performing team of machine learning, optimization and software engineers, and help us build solar and wind forecasts to optimize energy storage dispatch.


What You'll Do
  • Evaluate and benchmark third party weather forecasts against both open-loop and closed-loop performance metrics
  • Develop and tune internal weather and renewable power generation forecast models that are locationally relevant to our energy storage assets
  • Collaborate with machine learning engineers to productionize weather forecast models into our end-to-end energy storage trading workflows

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, or Climate Science, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years developing short-term and medium-term weather forecasts for energy trading
  • Proficiency in Python, familiarity with software development practices
  • Experience with weather forecasting in Texas and/or Midwest (ERCOT/SPP/MISO markets)
  • Location - flexible
