GENERAL PURPOSE

Oversees plant electrical work to ensure the safe and efficient execution of electrical projects, installations, and maintenance tasks. This involves planning, scheduling, and coordinating electrical project activities, as well as assigning tasks to individual or teams. Ensure that all electrical installations and repairs meet the standards set by the local and national electrical codes and company standards. Conduct regular inspections of electrical systems and equipment to identify any issues or defects that need to be addressed. When problems are discovered, troubleshoot and come up with the best solutions. Key responsibilities include training and mentoring staff, coordinating with contractors, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring adherence to quality standards. Additionally, will work with other professionals or stakeholders such as project managers, engineers, architects, and contractors to provide updates on project progress, discuss any challenges, and ensure the company electrical needs are met. The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication and leadership skills, vast electrical knowledge and a strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement.



JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate with plant leadership to complete current and long-term project objectives in accordance with company electrical standards
  • Evaluate aging control and electrical systems to plan for updating and modernizing, develop scope of project, communicate with engineering and drive contractor workforce in project execution.
  • Develop the electrical design for projects, including power distribution systems, control systems, and other electrical components.
  • Overseeing the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems, ensuring they meet specifications and safety standards.
  • Develop, organize, and maintain electrical specifications/standards
  • Supervising, training, and mentoring electricians and electrical workers
  • Ensuring strict compliance with safety procedures, electrical codes, and company electrical standards
  • Planning and scheduling projects and preparing and maintaining project budgets
  • Inspecting and testing electrical equipment, components and systems to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair
  • Preparing and presenting reports detailing the status of electrical projects and work orders
  • Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduation from trade school or technical school in related discipline preferred
  • 5 or more years of multi-disciplinary technical experience in a food manufacturing and packaging environment, that includes design, layout, installation, and project implementation.
  • 5 or more years of electrical maintenance experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, and automation system maintenance experience
  • Certification and/or License - Current valid electrician journeyman license or other location specific electrician license.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Proven experience as an electrical supervisor or a similar role in the electrical field
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, electrical repairs, components, and safety procedures
  • Familiarity with electrical system installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance
  • Strong understanding of electrical codes and regulations
  • Exceptional organizational, planning, execution, and follow through skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, for a diverse range of internal and external audiences
  • Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork
  • Able to handle challenging or conflict situations with tact and professionalism
  • Able to adapt and manage to change effectively
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
