Shelter Youth and Family Services encourages the application of all bilingual applicants to work with our client community. Job Overview

The Foster Care/ Emergency Foster Care Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the Foster Care/ Emergency Foster Care Program. The Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision of the Foster Care/ Emergency Foster Care Caseworkers to ensure all DCFS Performance Standards are met for all youth. The Foster Care/ Emergency Foster Care Supervisor reports to the Foster Care Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Responsible for the day-to-day supervision and guidance of foster care/ emergency foster care placements, including the direct supervision of case workers.
  • Manage and guide case workers through crisis situations.
  • Responsible for overall coordination of intake services for Foster Care/ Emergency Foster Care placements.
  • Work with all youth and families to provide any necessary resources to stabilize the placement and ensure the safety and wellbeing of each child.
  • Refer and link youth and their families to services or community opportunities.
  • Assist in the recruiting and training of emergency foster homes
  • Provide on-call crisis response and backup for team members in the community when needed.
  • Monitor program effectiveness to develop methods to enhance quality of services.
  • Complete timely and accurate documentation.
  • Follow all IL DCFS and Child Welfare code of ethics.
  • For Emergency Foster Care Staff- work under a Wraparound Services model.
  • Follow a strengths-based, person-centered model.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of IDCFS policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS



  • Master's degree in a human services/social services field.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong crisis management skills.
  • 3-5 years of experience in child welfare.
  • CWEL Certified.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of Shelter's mission, vision, and values.
  • Must have a valid Illinois driver's license, automobile, and must submit proof of Illinois auto insurance.
  • Must complete a Medical and T.B. test. Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the latest CDC guidelines.
  • Must be fingerprinted by the State of Illinois and must submit to a full Background Check through the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.
  • Must submit official educational transcripts from the last school in which a degree was awarded.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.

A Federal background search with the FBI and Illinois State Police is conducted for all positions. This is conducted through DCFS (Illinois Department of Children and Family Services). You must also be willing to be vaccinated or provide proof of vaccination against the COVID-19 virus, submit your school transcripts from the last school that you attended, complete a general physical with a TB (tuberculosis) test, provide a copy of your current driver's license and a copy of your current proof of auto insurance. You may be asked to provide proof of certification in CPR, CPI, Think Trauma or be willing to be trained in these areas.
