Nursing Coordinator (RN) - Gastro Procedures

Full Time - 8am - 4:30pm - Monday - Friday

Some travel between Detroit Main Campus & Royal Oak locations

This position will eventually will turn into a Hybrid position once the program has fully launched.

This position is a new role. General Surgery GI and Thoracic Surgery is partnering to provide a new care pathway to support the gut. This position will be responsible for navigating the care of patients, working closely with GI teams, providers, etc. Assist with building out patient facing and educational materials for the program. Work with referring physician offices.

Candidate Preferences: Minimum of 3 years Ambulatory/Clinic or inpatient RN experience. GI/Gastro/Endoscopy/Surgery experience. Needs to be organized, self starter, work well independently and with other teams, multi task, surgery workflows, etc. EPIC experience is a must. Any patient navigating or launching programs would be helpful.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Reports to the Nursing Leader/Administration. The Nurse Coordinator is a Registered Nurse who under the direction of department leadership develops, implements, monitors and evaluates a program of care for patients. Coordinates care across the continuum to facilitate quality outcomes. Collaborates with other healthcare team members including physicians, nurses, extenders, ancillary and support staff to ensure optimum patient care and satisfaction. Provides education to patients and family regarding disease process. Trains and directs a nursing team in the optimal care of the patient.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Successful completion of HFHS (Parent Operating Group) Pharmacology test.
  • Maintains and demonstrates current clinical knowledge in area of specialty.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • A minimum of three to five years of progressively more responsible clinical nursing practice in specialty.
  • Certification in specialty preferred.
  • Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans.
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and medical group personnel. Preferred experience in the specialty.
  • Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills. Knowledge of Word and Excel.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

  • Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current BLS or ACLS per HFHS Policy.
