Job Summary:

Our Emergency Medical Dispatchers serve as the vital link between individuals in distress and lifesaving care. They play a pivotal role in ensuring that the right help arrives at the right place in the shortest possible time, which can make a significant difference in emergency situations.

Key Position Details:

  • 1.0 FTE (80 hours per two-week pay period)
  • Will work a variety of 8, 10, and 12-hour day, evening, and night shifts
  • Every other weekend

Job Description:

Provides dispatch communications coordination for emergency medical services; ALS, BLS and Special Transportation. Triages calls and provides medical direction in emergencies prior to on scene arrival. Serves as a resource for field operations providing direction to facilitate rapid deployment.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Provides dispatch communication coordination for ALS, BLS and Special Transportation.
    • Facilitates daily operations of medical transportation.
    • Determines level of care using medical triage with caller.
    • Provides caller with medical direction in emergencies prior to on scene arrival.
    • Establishes and maintains communications with internal and external customers.
  • Serves as resource for emergency medical services field operations.
    • Gives direction to facilitate rapid deployment.
    • Monitors and prioritizes emergency and non-emergency radio traffic.
    • Coordinates and deploys units in incidences of mass casualty.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of experience in Emergency Medical Services Dispatch or Healthcare (Medical Assistant, Emergency Room Technician)

Licenses/Certifications

  • Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) required within 60 Days

  • Lifting weight Up to 10 lbs. occasionally, negligible weight frequently

Pay Range

Pay Range: $31.42 to $46.69 per hour The pay described reflects the base hourly pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
