Overview of Position - Nurse Practitioner (APRN) - Addictions Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Advance Nurse Practitioner (APRN) that will function as our "Addictions Specialist" to join our healthcare team at University Behavioral Center, located in Orlando, Florida. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of mental health practices (especially in substance abuse and addition) and be committed to providing high-quality care to patients. This role involves working closely with individuals experiencing psychiatric disorders as it relates to addiction, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being while promoting recovery and rehabilitation. We are currently seeking qualified professionals with active/clear license in the state of Florida. Previous experience in a psychiatric facility or rehabilitation program is highly preferred.

Skills:

  • Experience with behavioral health patients is required.
  • Must have experience in the treatment of patients addicted to drugs, alcohol and other substances.
  • Knowledge of patient care principles for adult psychiatric patients is beneficial.
  • Competence in taking vital signs accurately.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients, families and healthcare professionals.
  • Strong critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills.

Qualifications

Education: Master's Degree as a Nurse Practitioner or APRN and completion of a post graduate program for psychiatric mental health nursing.

Experience: Preferably two or more years of experience within a psychiatric setting. A minimum of two (2) years of experience in working with in an inpatient setting is preferred. At least two or more years' experience working with patients addicted to drugs, alcohol or other substances.

Licensure: Licensed to practice in the State of Florida as a Nurse Practitioner or APRN. If medication privileges are exercised, prescriptive authority from the Board of Medical Examiners is required.

Additional Requirements: Successful completion Crisis Prevention Intervention Behavior Training, Service Excellence Training and CPR certification required. Certifications may be obtained during new hire orientation.

Work hours: 8-hour shifts; days, M-F.
