Koch Methanol St. James is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our Reliability team for the summer. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting the reliability, integrity, and safety of assets in a world-class chemical manufacturing facility. This role provides exposure to real engineering challenges while developing problem-solving and technical skills in a dynamic environment.

What You Will Do

During your internship, you may:

  • Assist with root cause analyses of fixed and rotating equipment issues and help identify potential solutions.
  • Collect and organize reliability data for key assets.
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs for critical equipment.
  • Learn how to apply industry standards and best practices in equipment inspections.
  • Shadow engineers during project reviews, inspections, and maintenance planning activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including maintenance, operations, and engineering.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Enrolled in a degree or alternative program. (e.g., 4 year college program, 2 year technical college program, certificate program, upskilling program, etc.)
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, or a related field.
  • Eligible for full-time employment before or by May 2028.
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Previous internship, co-op, or project experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Familiarity with engineering codes and standards (ASME, API, ANSI).
  • Interest in reliability engineering, maintenance, or process safety.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to wear PPE in designated areas.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights on occasion.
