How Will You Make an Impact?

Reporting to the Sr Director, Contract Administration and Business Development as a Sr. Contract Manager, you will be focused on managing contracts for the sale and distribution of McGraw Hill digital and print products including contract strategy, negotiation, drafting, execution, amending, renewing through termination or expiration. In addition, this role collaborates with cross functional departments to ensure alignment of contracts with McGraw Hill mission, business and financial objectives and provides guidance with respect to contractual risk mitigation, and compliance with company policies and legal and regulatory requirements.

This is a remote position open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States. Preference will be given to candidates located in Central or Eastern Time Zones.

What can you expect from the position?

  • Collaborates with the sales team to align contract strategies with McGraw Hill objectives to land and expand the adoption of its digital and print educational products and services in the U.S. Higher Education market.
  • Provides contract terms, conditions and responses to McGraw Hill proposal managers to be included in McGraw Hill proposals to customer RFIs and RFPs.
  • Identifies potential risks and proposes proactive strategies and safeguards to mitigate such risks associated with contracts relationships with higher education customers and distributors contemplated by McGraw Hill sales teams, business owners and leadership.
  • Serves as the point of contact to obtain the internal input from and review by the McGraw Hill sales teams, business owners, subject matter experts, finance legal during the drafting, and negotiation of contracts with McGraw Hill higher education customers and distributors.
  • Creates or generates contracts, addendums, amendments and statements of work from McGraw Hill templates or customer contract templates, for the licensing, rental, direct sale, and distribution McGraw Hill higher education digital and print products and services in accordance with McGraw Hill policies and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Leads the McGraw Hill team responsible for negotiating and finalizing contracts for with McGraw Hill higher education customers and distributors.
  • Supports McGraw Hill business owner benefit/cost/risks analysis briefings and recommendations on the key aspects of contracts during drafting review, negotiations and finalization of the contracts.
  • Serve as a primary McGraw Hill point-of-contact to address contract questions and provide interpretation and guidance regarding McGraw Hill, customer and distributor contract rights, obligations, expected outcomes and avoidance/resolution of contract issues and disputes.
  • Assist and lead in the maintenance and improvement of the MHHE revenue contract management process that can accommodate, scale and flex with respect to variations in volume, nature of transaction, customer type, product and service delivery, fulfillment, discount model, due date acceleration and tracking of customer specific product and price, price increase terms, contract terminations and renewals.

We're looking for someone with:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, law or related fields is must. Master's degree preferred if managing people.
  • A minimum of 7 (seven) years of contract management experience in the following areas: excellent skills drafting and negotiating sales and licensing agreements, distribution agreements, rental agreements, confidentiality agreements, statements work, integration agreements and IT security and data privacy agreements.
  • Strong understanding of contract construction, licensing and intellectual property rights,
  • Working knowledge of federal and state date privacy regulations.
  • Effective communicator with all levels of McGraw Hill.
  • Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships based on trust, openness and consensus building.
  • Proactive results drive, with strong attention to detail, issue identification and resolution skills.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Strong time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Effective and efficient use of Microsoft suite of products (i.e., Word and Excel) in the fulfillment of contract management accountabilities.
  • Nice to have

Juris Doctor (JD) degree is preferred but not mandatory.

Experience in the publishing, SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) products or education industry.

The pay range for this position is between $72,000 - 121,000 annually, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. An annual sales incentive plan is included as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered.
