Senior Desktop and Endpoint Engineer

Cooley is seeking a Senior Desktop and Endpoint Engineer to join the Technology Enterprise Engineering team.

Position summary: Cooley Technology embraces a culture of customer service excellence, and all members of the department are expected to move this agenda forward. To that end, the Senior Desktop and Endpoint Engineer position is expected to recognize that we are here at Cooley as a service organization first and foremost and will be evaluated on this requirement equal in importance to the technical or operational responsibilities outlined later in this document.

The Desktop and Endpoint Engineer is responsible for specification, design, maintenance, assembly of firmwide desktop images including those on physical as well as those on virtual environments such as Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD). Creates the Cooley "build image" by coordinating operating system configurations and applications with application owners and subject matter experts, Help Desk and Training staff, Office Technology Managers, Security and Network Engineering teams. Assures smooth and reliable operation of end-user computer operating systems, along with primary application integrations of a full Cooley complement of applications and utilities. Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:

Position responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain tools and systems for deploying computer operating system images, collaborating with business owners and technology teams to ensure solutions align with firmwide user and client requirements
  • Serve as a systems analyst consultant and provide systems and applications integration advice and expertise as needed throughout the Firm and the department
  • Design, document and train technology department business professional team members on use of operating system and application integrations
  • Design, document and traintechnology department business professional team members on use of Mobile Device Management application deployment and device enrollment
  • Create and execute test scripts and test plans as necessary to fully exercise the gamut of the firm's application set
  • Design and implement software deployment packages and scripts to ensure timely, consistent and successful deployment of new and updated software installations in a highly diverse, international user environment
  • Responsible for control and coordination of the release management process for the desktop
  • Periodically audit desktops to help ensure software licensing compliance
  • Read manuals, periodicals, technical reports and use online services to increase system knowledge and utilization
  • All other duties as assigned or required

Skills and experience:

Required:

  • After orientation at Cooley LLP, exhibit proficiency in the Microsoft 365, MECM, Intune, iManage and other firm applications
  • Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours, as required
  • 5+ years' experience with at least 3 Windows desktop operating system versions, application analysis, and Virtual applications as well as support and integration of new hardware into the deployment framework
  • Competency in one (or more) scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, vb script)
  • Fluent working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating systems
  • Familiarity with MacOS Management
  • Familiarity with industry standard application deployment tools (PatchMyPC/Intune/Microsoft SCCM or similar)
  • Familiarity with deploying and configuring applications with Mobile Device Management enterprise products such as Microsoft Intune, JAMF
  • Familiarity with standard Microsoft deployment tools and their application in the enterprise (Microsoft Deployment Toolkit/operating systems - Office Customization Tool/Microsoft Office suites - Internet Explorer Administration Kit/IEAK) and/or alternate third-party tools for deployment of core systems and applications
  • Participate in a 7x24 on-call rotation

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Strong technical writing and documentation experience
  • Prior law firm experience

The expected annual pay range for this position with a full-time schedule is $125,000 - $190,000. Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate.
