JOB TITLE: Collections Officer

REPORTS TO: Collections Manager and VP of Lending

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Grade: 8

SUMMARY FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Collections Manager and VP of Lending and established policies and procedures, perform collection activities on delinquent loan accounts and credit card accounts including skip tracing, repossession, attorney letters, volatile situations, and general correspondence.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE: 4-6 years of related experience normally required.

A Collection Officer for MHCU must be able to communicate with our members in a professional and courteous manner. Activities include collecting but also helping our member so that collection action is less likely in the future. Knowledge of bankruptcy laws is helpful. Our collection department handles delinquent loan accounts, credit card accounts, returned checks, charged-off accounts, and fraud items. Actions include phone calls, skip tracing, repossession, attorney letters, written delinquency notices, and working with debtor to satisfy legal debts.
