ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION:



    • For Service, Technical Support, Marketing & Sales Roles: Additional compensation is available through either an Incentive and/or Commission Plan.
    • For Employees who reside in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and California: Additional compensation is offered through a Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA).





Shimadzu Scientific Instruments is seeking a motivated Field Application Scientist to join our team! In this role, you will work closely with collaborators and customers to deliver real-world analytical solutions using LCMS, GCMS, and Life Science instrumentation. You will focus on method development, field support, and technical training, while influencing product innovation through customer insights and direct feedback.



JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Develop and implement application projects with cross-functional teams including R&D, Marketing, and Sales
  • Deliver product demonstrations, seminars, and technical presentations to customers and industry professionals
  • Author technical content including application notes, scientific papers, and training materials
  • Evaluate new instrumentation and emerging analytical techniques
  • Research customer needs and market trends to guide new applications and product positioning
  • Provide expert-level support for customer problem-solving alongside Sales and Service teams
  • Represent Shimadzu at industry events, trade shows, and customer engagements
  • Collaborate with global Shimadzu teams and external partners on joint projects
  • Travel domestically and internationally with overnight stays as needed



EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MS or PhD in Chemistry or a closely related scientific field (PhD strongly preferred)
  • At least 3 years of experience working in an analytical lab using LCMS and GCMS technologies
  • Strong background in chromatography, mass spectrometry, and sample preparation
  • Proficient in technical writing and public speaking, with the ability to lead customer-facing sessions
  • Demonstrated ability to plan experiments and solve complex scientific problems
  • Comfortable working across technical and commercial teams to deliver high-impact solutions

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

This is an exempt, full-time position that is eligible for benefits. Shimadzu offers 10 paid vacation days, 8 paid personal days, 8 scheduled holidays, and 3 floating holidays in the first year of employment (Residents of California and Puerto Rico will receive state-mandated sick leave instead of personal days). After one year, employees are eligible for a generous short-term disability program, which complies with FMLA regulations, with the company covering 100% of the monthly premiums. Employees are insured at 100% of their salary for the first 6 weeks and 66.67% of their salary for weeks 7-12.

The starting salary range for this position is $105,000 to $107,800 annually, with compensation paid on a semi-monthly, exempt salaried basis. Additional variable compensation may include a discretionary year-end bonus based on overall company performance.
