Purpose

Manage and execute elevated stewardship and donor recognition for top donors at McCombs School of Business; Supervises direct report(s).

Responsibilities

Leadership and Project Management

  • Lead day-to-day operational oversight, collaborative and strategic planning, development, coordination, and implementation of a comprehensive stewardship program.
  • Partner with leadership to identify top stewardship prospects and initiatives.
  • Manage and develop direct report(s).
  • Guide the McCombs endowment annual letter project and the Cornerstone Community ($1M+ cumulative giving).
  • Lead strategy for developing and executing individual stewardship plans (ISP), including: videos, correspondence, impact reports, promotional tokens, bespoke items, and in-person or virtual meetings.

Collaboration Events and Engagement

  • Collaborate and partner with colleagues and students across McCombs and the University to shape the vision for stewardship.
  • Develop resources and guidance to support philanthropic stakeholders in stewardship efforts, including, but not limited to, annual endowment reporting and endowment completion acknowledgments.
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders to collect and curate data for reporting and advancement.
  • Manage the annual scholarship event working directly with the Donor Engagement and Special Events team.
  • Plan and facilitate both virtual and in-person stewardship gatherings.
  • Provide direction and oversight in the planning and implementation of stewardship-specific activities at events.

Administration

  • Supervise stewardship tracking and endowment management oversight, including amendments.
  • Engage with donors and constituents on sensitive complaints and issues.
  • Contribute to working knowledge of School's desire to continuously improve stewardship practices.
  • Show initiative and interest in professional development.

Interpersonal Competence

  • Demonstrate leadership, professional assertiveness and relationship management in the donor relations space.
  • Engage in two-way communication acknowledging input from leadership, gift officers and colleagues; remove barriers to effective communication; remain sensitive to cultural considerations when communicating; allow others space to speak their perspective; surface and address conflict.
  • Build and manage relationships that encourage collaboration by valuing others' emotions, input, and curiosity.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of stewardship-related donor development experience to include at least three years of supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment and establish effective work relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Highly organized with strong problem-solving skills; ability to manage and follow through on projects collaboratively and independently.
  • Must be composed and professional under stress to effectively represent the McCombs School of Business.
  • Previous success working independently and in a team-oriented environment to accomplish goals, implement initiatives, make decisions, and solve problems effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of endowments, gift compliance and gift agreements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; and comfortable learning new technologies.
  • Ability to work occasional overtime, with a particular emphasis on supporting after hours events.
  • Must be able to work with confidential information with discretion.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of related experience.
  • Prior experience with UT Austin or in a higher education setting.
  • Proficiency with Canva or other design platforms.
Salary Range
  • $95,000 + depending on qualifications
Working Conditions
  • Works in standard office conditions, in a shared office environment with repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
  • Some evening and weekend hours may be required during peak periods and special events.

  • This is an Austin, TX-based position.

Employment Eligibility:

Retirement Plan Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
