Position Summary

Under the direction of the Manager/Team Leader Purchasing and Inventory Management, manages and conducts the purchasing and receipt of supplied materials required to ensure manufacturing plans are achievable, supporting 100 to 300+ SKUs. Assumes a leading role in the management of purchased material inventories. Communicates directly with vendors, production planners and schedulers, manufacturing, warehousing, as well as quality assurance colleagues to ensure alignment of materials with production requirements. Assists in the coordination of activities required for new product introductions and manufacturing material changes.

Hours: 1st shift, 8-hour days, 5 days per week. Weekend and holidays may be required.

Position Responsibilities

  • Develops and prepares ordering plans for materials, and initiates purchasing requisitions/orders, via ERP system and associated analysis tools (i.e., NID/SLED report, optimization tool) ensuring no supply/scheduling disruption.
  • Assist in the communication of supply plans thru MRP updates, reports, and various communication tools to their primary customer base or end user groups.
  • Reviews, monitors, and completes order follow ups to support manufacturing plan success based upon the availability of approved materials.
  • Through close interaction and communications with the suppliers and procurement, anticipate and communicate supply risks due to supplier quality, supplier capacity, supplier business changes, or other events which may impact the continuity of materials required to sustain the site's manufacturing requirements.
  • Manages inventories of purchased materials assuring levels are maintained within the site's inventory objectives/targets.
  • Will identify, log, and track distressed inventories (e.g., Damaged, slow moving, or obsolete inventories), culminating with disposition actions and entries to the Distressed Inventory (DI) log.
  • Reviews invoice entries and assigns corrective action post review to ensure timely payments to approved suppliers.
  • Partners with manufacturing and procurement to ensure timely resolution of vendor quality deviations.
  • Assists in cost savings initiatives involving purchased materials.
  • Assists in developing/analyzing Supplier Metric reports involving quality and lead time adherence. Implements corrective actions as required.
  • Assists in the coordination and activities involved in new product introductions and manufacturing site transfer initiatives.
  • Utilization of Right First Time Methodologies to identify and improve vendor supply, inventory management, scrap, and overall cost.
  • Assures purchasing records retention is compliant with corporate standards and practices.
  • Acts as a liaison to ensure alignment between the manufacturing units, quality, and the vendor.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Management, Business Administration or related disciplines applicable to Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, or Vaccine and Pharmaceutical Manufacturing preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Materials Management, and/or Marketing.
  • Multi-lingual preferred

Technical Skills and Competencies Required

  • Strong knowledge and practical experience of production, inventory, and planning systems such as: SAP, APO, IBP, ECC, MRP
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in utilizing analytical tools, spreadsheets, and databases to develop reports for strategic planning and communication.
  • Proven ability to lead, synchronize and motivate colleagues to meet short- and long-term objectives.
  • Ability to conceptualize, analyze and implement new methodologies in support of improving customer service, inventory management, and business alignment.
  • Demonstrated ability to function and influence in a team matrix environment and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Right First Time and Lean Manufacturing concepts and principles preferred.
  • APICS training preferred.

Physical Position Requirements

The work conditions for the position are greater than 50% stationary with periodic standing and walking through out the workday(s). The colleague(s) may be required to travel and or work greater than 40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays to support the business.
