Charter's State Government Affairs team is tasked with achieving the company's franchising, legislative and regulatory goals on a state and local level. We are seeking a bright, determined, and committed Senior Manager of Government Affairs to join the team to assist in driving Charter's policy priorities. BE PART OF THE CONNECTION As a Senior Manager of Government Affairs, you will play a vital role in developing and executing strategies that support the growth of Charter's New York and other New England states' Markets at the state and local level. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of State Government Affairs, you will be responsible for representing the company before government agencies, as well as managing and executing events that align with our overall objectives. Your focus on community affairs and strategic planning will help drive our company's success. WHAT SENIOR GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS MANAGERS ENJOY MOST Actively and consistently supporting all efforts of the Northeast Government Affairs team's objectives Overseeing the administration of franchise-related filings to ensure timely and accurate filing of notices, applications, and reports Preparing and filing franchise renewal applications and reports, plus other related franchise compliance matters Reviewing, interpreting, and communicating terms and conditions of franchises, franchise-related agreements, and other contracts for implementation to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations Preparing, analyzing, forecasting, and regularly tracking the annual budget, including developing reports, and managing and communicating results Assisting in the development and implementation of state-wide PAC strategies, including supporting execution of solicitation as well as budgeting and disbursement processes Assisting in compliance activities related to lobbying disclosure regulations and election law Representing the company before external constituencies, including elected officials and other state and local government agencies, commissions, and authorities, and organizing and representing the company at community events and other external functions Responding to and monitoring the resolution of escalated complaints from local, state, or federal government authorities Performing other duties as requested The State Government Affairs team is responsible for educating local and state officials about Charter's policy positions and advocating for laws, regulations and ordinances that advance the company's business priorities. As a member of the state team, you will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure Charter's interests and the interests of Charter's customers are well represented in state and local policies. WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO SPECTRUM Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English About 7 years related experience in the cable industry, government, public policy or legislative arenas Advocacy, lobbying and negotiation skills Understanding of state and local government Preferred Qualifications Having knowledge of cable, telecommunications and broadband products, services and regulation preferred Working Conditions Office environment Frequent travel required Able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary Certifications and/or Licenses Valid drivers license required Satisfactory driving record within company standards Auto Insurance SPECTRUM CONNECTS YOU TO MORE Dynamic Growth: The growth of our industry and evolving technology powers our employees' careers as they move up or around the company Supportive Teams: Who you are matters here. A qualified applicant's criminal history, if any, will be considered in a manner consistent with applicable laws, including local ordinances. The base pay for this position generally is between $88,330.00 and $156,530.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
