Part of Dover Corporation's Engineered Systems segment, Vehicle Service Group (VSG) is a strong, diverse and dynamic global leader in the vehicle service industry. VSG comprises 13 major vehicle lifting, wheel service, diagnostic and collision repair brands: Rotary Lift, Chief, Forward, Direct-Lift, Ravaglioli, Hanmecson, Revolution, Elektron, Blitz, Nogra, Butler, Space and Sirio.

  1. Must be able to lift 35 pounds repeatedly - a minimum of 2 times per day.
  2. Makes own set-ups including:
    1. Positions each torch/head to cut correct size.
    2. Sets regulators at correct pressure for all gases.
    3. Cleans and replaces cutting nozzles when necessary.
  3. Regulates speed of machine for cut.
  4. Positions plate to cut shapes. Removes part and cleans slag from finished part. Asides scrap from table and places finished part on "out" float.
  5. Monitors own production for conformance to quality requirements; includes dimensional inspection, statistical process control, etc.
  6. Directs the positioning of and the removal of material in work area.
  7. Records appropriate production information on required documents and on move ticket.
  8. Maintains mediums (templates & numerical control data storage) in clean and working order. Makes backup copies when required.
    Operator checks job travelers for special instructions or notes BEFORE proceeding with job assigned.
  9. Performs housekeeping duties as necessary to keep work area safe, clean and in good order.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Receives instructions, prints, and/or work order for job, and proceeds with a minimum of supervision and direction.

Sets up, adjusts and operates shape cutting machine to cut single or multiple pieces from sheet and plate stock, etc.

Uses acetylene, thermalene, propane or other appropriate gases.

May select templates for standard line of work.

Secures templates or loads NC programs in machine, adjusts guide tracing mechanisms, regulates gas pressures and cutting speed for type of material and job at hand.

Selects tips and adjusts torches for number of pieces required.

May make layouts and prepare cutting templates under supervision.

May write and down load numerical control programs under supervision.

Works from drawings, cutting orders and specifications maintaining shown tolerances. Uses rules, square, protractor, micrometer, etc., incidental to measurement and layout.

Works Under general supervision and work is subject to process and final inspection. Assists new operators in learning the correct and safe operation of the equipment when required.

Takes good workman like care of machines, tools, equipment, work areas, etc.

Must be able to read and write.

Must be able to compute arithmetic, basic trigonometry and basic plane geometry effectively and efficiently.

Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.

Must be able to perform other work of similar or comparable nature incidental to the performance of the operation.
