OptumRx is looking for a curious and self-motivated individual to identify and develop strategies that leverage the full breadth of Optum assets to solve healthcare's biggest challenges in the area of pharmacy services. This role will be responsible for understanding the needs of industry partners and developing business solutions using the data and capabilities of Optum. We are looking for people that can collaborate with business partners, anticipate future industry needs, and have solid financial acumen.

The Senior Account Manager, Pharmacy Network manages ongoing contract relationships and service delivery to clients for one or more accounts. The role acts as outward-facing, dedicated resource for assigned accounts, typically with direct client contact (not call center) and large or complex accounts. The role will build relationships with employer/group clients (not individual members) and serves as the primary point of contact for overall and day-to-day service delivery. This account manager will represent clients internally and coordinates with other functions to implement client systems, complete projects, and address ongoing service needs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the business development, sales strategy and presentation of the product, Community Based Specialty Pharmacy Network (CBSPN)
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain solid relationships with key stakeholders in health systems, ensuring their needs are understood and met
  • Strategic Account Oversight: Manage a portfolio of health system accounts, developing tailored strategies to enhance client satisfaction and drive business growth
  • Sales Strategy Development: Create and implement effective sales strategies to promote healthcare products and services, identifying opportunities for upselling and cross-selling
  • Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market research to understand trends, competitor activities, and client needs, positioning the organization effectively within the healthcare landscape
  • Team Leadership and Collaboration: Lead cross-functional teams, collaborating with marketing, product development, and customer service to ensure alignment on client objectives and sales goals
  • Performance Tracking and Reporting: Monitor account performance metrics, providing regular updates and insights to both clients and internal stakeholders to drive continuous improvement
  • Product Presentations and Training: Deliver engaging presentations and training sessions to health system clients, showcasing product benefits and ensuring they are equipped to maximize value

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in health systems sales and/or health systems account management
  • 2+ years of direct B2B engagement/account management experience
  • 2+ years of experience in creating sales presentations and marketing materials
  • Proficiency in sales and communication outreach tracking
  • Experience in tracking towards documented sales goals & metrics

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 340b experience
  • Health system specialty pharmacy experience
  • Experience in pharmacy network healthcare or pharmacy benefit management
  • Contract and/or RFP experience
  • Proven negotiation skills, with experience in at least 2 large-scale contract negotiations

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across a matrix environment
  • Deep understanding of pharmacy operations and financial terms (including clinical performance guarantees, rebate guarantees, and discount guarantees)
  • Innovative problem-solving capabilities to optimize existing networks and products

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $89,900 to $160,600 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
