We are seeking a bold, inquisitive, and visionary Veterinary Investigative Pathologist to lead preclinical pathology efforts in support of novel drug development. This is a unique opportunity to apply your deep understanding of comparative pathology to uncover disease mechanisms, validate therapeutic targets, and accelerate the translation of animal model insights into human clinical breakthroughs. Job Description Key Responsibilities: Design and interpret pathology studies in animal models to support drug discovery and development programs. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including toxicologists, pharmacologists, molecular biologists, and clinical researchers. Develop and refine animal models that mimic human disease pathology, with a focus on oncology, immunology, neurology, or rare diseases. Analyze histopathological data to identify biomarkers, therapeutic windows, and mechanisms of action. Contribute to regulatory submissions and scientific publications. Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies in digital pathology, AI-assisted image analysis, and molecular diagnostics. Minimum Requirements: DVM or equivalent veterinary degree; PhD and/or board certification (ACVP/ECVP) strongly preferred. 10 plus years demonstrated experience in investigative or translational pathology, within a pharmaceutical or biotech or academic setting. Strong knowledge of animal models of human disease and their relevance to drug development Exceptional analytical, communication and collaboration skills. The salary for this position is expected to range between $204,400 and $379,600 per year. The final salary offered is determined based on factors like, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically. Novartis may change the published salary range based on company and market factors. Your compensation will include a performance-based cash incentive and, depending on the level of the role, eligibility to be considered for annual equity awards.
